{Thankful }

"Nothing turns out as we expect! It never does. Life's under no obligation to give us what we expect. We take what we get and are thankful it's no worse than it is." -anonymous
A Lovely Life, Indeed: The Compound Effect
Ain't that the truth on both accounts.
Lately I am just so thankful for what I have...... the country I live in....... the time period when it all comes down to it
we are a spoiled bunch aren't we...
We take SO much for granted! Having just finished the fire of the covenant makes me so aware of all that I have that I don't even think about and how blessed we are to have what we have.
WE worry about the stupidest things don't we!?

So very thankful for this place and
Cardston Alberta Temple Painting by Chad Hawkins Get this painting or other temple artwork at the link in bio! #chadhawkins #CardstonAlbertaTemple #ldsartwork #lds #mormon #templeartwork #ldstemple

thankful for the opportunity to be able to go to martins cove in may and experience that with our stake
"We should remember our first priority- to serve God - and like our pioneer predecessors, push our personal handcarts forward with the same fortitude they exhibited."  -Elder Oaks.
Something definitely worth striving for.

thankful for this sweet boy he lost his first tooth this week and couldn't be more excited I on the other hand:(
this sassy girl is just that. haha growing up....thankful for her because she's strong determined and a fighter;) all things that will serve her well
{ when she's older;) }

I'm thankful for the moments I don't want to forget like tucking my kids in each night and kissing their sweet foreheads and telling them I love them and am proud of them.....

--------------------------------------------------------

I'm thankful for simple things like
the sense of  smell
The sense of smell can be extraordinarily evocative, bringing back pictures as sharp as photographs of scenes that had left the conscious mind.
-- Thalassa Cruso

Nothing is more memorable than a smell. One scent can be unexpected, momentary and fleeting, yet conjure up a childhood summer beside a lake in the mountains; another, a moonlit beach; a third, a family dinner of pot roast and sweet potatoes during a myrtle-mad August in a Midwestern town. Smells detonate softly in our memory like poignant land mines hidden under the weedy mass of years. Hit a tripwire of smell and memories explode all at once. A complex vision leaps out of the undergrowth.
-- Diane Ackerman

smell and memories are synonyms almost because there are certain smells that bring me right back to a certain memory.... some as young as five years old, I know cause I can see it and smell it but I have no pictures of it...
They are

The smell of cucumbers

reminds me of sitting in a circle in kindergarten for snack time and somebodies mom brought cucumbers cheese and crackers i still can see the plate being passed around maybe I thought there would be none left for me who knows why but it always reminds me of kindergarten....
--------------------------------
The smell of dill and fresh peas from the garden

reminds me of my grandpa and grandma Mecham they always had an awesome garden and sometimes my grandpa would take us down to get peas from the garden and it always smelled of dill around the garden loved it then love it now!
english mints or scotch mints will always remind me of my grandpa M too...and is now a staple in our home too:)
----------------------
Weird but I love The smell of fresh tar and oil

reminds me of the boat docks and going to meet my dad or see him on his boat coming in from a commercial fishing run...This is the Bella Coola Valley in BC... I love the smell of those two things and it always brings me back to the coast love it...
I grew up running down these docks, and spent the summer I was 19 working with my dad on his charter boat...its a different life...
beauty, serenity tar and oil the mountains and the smells of it all bring me back here...
--------------------------------
Go back. Go back in time. Everyone's life is a chain of memories. In each chain there are shining links, happenings where this element of wonder...was very strong. Reach out and relive some of those memories? If you work at it, remembering the wonder can revive your ability to live life as it should be lived.
-- Arthur Gordon

Memory is a child walking along a seashore. You never can tell what small pebble it will pick up and store away among its treasured things.
-- Pierce Harris
---------------------------------------------
That was random eh;)

I'm thankful for good friends as you get older you realize who your good friends are and who really understands you and is there when it matters most. Other than that there isn't much time worth wasting on what doesn't matter ...sometimes those friends are those you haven't seen in 15 years but still hold a special place in your heart:)

I'm thankful for opportunities to grow expand and move forward through life learning all along the way...

Elder M. Russell Ballard said, “We all face rocky ridges, with the wind in our face and winter coming on too soon. Always, there is a Devil’s Gate, which will swing wide open to lure us in. Occasionally we reach the top of one summit in life, as the pioneers did, only to see more mountain peaks ahead, higher and more challenging than the one we have just traversed. We are all bound together 19 th and 20 th century pioneers and more in our great journey to follow the
Lord Jesus Christ and to allow His atoning sacrifice to work its miracle in our lives"

6) Reading this and seriously bawling through it some days..... makes me more appreciative of our martins cove experience coming up and for the hardships of our ancestors.....

AUTOMATIC by Miranda Lambert
Quarter in a payphone
Drying laundry on the line
Watching sun tea in the window
Pocket watch, tellin' time
Seems like only yesterday, I'd get a blank cassette
Record the country countdown, 'cause I couldn't buy it yet
If we drove all the way to Dallas
Just to buy an Easter dress
We'd take along a Rand McNally, stand in line to pay for gas
God knows that shifting gears ain't what it used to be
I learned to drive that '55, just like a queen three on a tree
Hey what ever happened to waiting your turn
Doing it all by hand, 'cause when everything is handed to you
It's only worth as much as the time put in
It all just seems so good the way we had it
Back before everything became automatic
If you had something to say
You'd write it on a piece of paper
Then you put a stamp on it
And they'd get it three days later

Boys would call the girls
And girls would turn them down

Staying married was the only way to work your problems out

Hey what ever happened to waiting your turn
Doing it all by hand, 'cause when everything is handed to you
It's only worth as much as the time put in
It all just seems so good the way we had it
Back before everything became automatic
Automatic
Let's roll the windows down
Windows with the cranks
Come on let's take a picture
The kind you gotta shake

Hey what ever happened to waiting your turn
Doing it all by hand, 'cause when everything is handed to you
It's only worth as much as the time put in
It all just seems so good the way we had it

Back before everything became automatic, automatic

You know me a bit old fashioned.
BUT I'm determined to have some old school manners in my kids, respect for others, elders and property....
their heads help high........ not stuck in a device, to learn to run and play, say please and thank you! and look at people when they talk to them!!  and to work hard for things so they appreciate it!
No freebies or handouts here.
To many of those, more everyday.
Re-evaluate where you stand. Be a parent. no really. We don't do anyone a service shutting down the scoreboard because a team is losing or someones feelings might get hurt.
Work harder. Try harder.
The real world don't work that way.
Nor should we.

10. and last but not least:)

Have a great week:)

What is a new favorite thing, song, recipe, product right now??
Share away;))
