{ Thankful Thursday...}

Wow the weeks are flying by the sun came out today after a long break THANK YOU!! I can hardly believe its May tomorrow and that also means its our 12th wedding anniversary on the 2nd, seriously we are getting to be one of those old married couples!
Its been 12 years of challenges along the way, alot of fun but lots of learning and growing together. I am a lucky girl to be married to D
he is good to me, a strong great example, a very hard worker, humble,
a handy man, a great father
we are pretty easy going and he makes me laugh
and my best friend.
I am so THANKFUL for HIM and the chance to spend the rest of forever with him
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY D !!
---------------------------

{so I'm really slow and have never figured out how to link an old post so you could click on it and go to it?? How do I?}

------------------

I'm also THANKFUL

My brother and his wife had their baby girl PEYTON RAYA yesterday and all is good!She is so cute

all 6lbs of her can't wait to see her

There is a serious baby boom right now..seems like everyday there is another one...

-------------------------

I am Thankful my swim suit I ordered online fits perfectly and I love it!!
Yeah for Downeast Basics and um online shopping aren't we all thankful for that?? ha ha!

Of course I'm the more frumpy version of the swimsuit but I love it ....

--------------------
I am thankful that we live in a day and age where we can keep updated through the Internet or the tv on things like SWINE FLU how are you all feeling {{about it?}} Its kind of weird cause I know four families in our town who just got back from there just makes me more aware of how it can spread so easily. Its nice to know what is going on and to know how to prepare for things like this. I get antsy to get all my food storage done and organized so when things like this say when its so bad maybe not now, maybe in the future but whenever it comes to it we can just be thankful we have a food storage and listened to what we are being told and have been told for so many years.

--------------------

I am so thankful for
MY CHILDREN

they make me laugh

Lauren picks up a map in D's truck the other day on there way home from Ballet

she says: is this a map of the earth we live on? {hum....} or

"mom I met another Lauren a few days ago..... and she was human"....{hum I hope so}

----------------

Masen makes me laugh, cry and scream but he is a fun boy full of life..

He says to me today.. i want water {he loves ice water in his sippy at nap} anyway he says that then he yells NOW...and a few seconds after I hear yeah thats not nice ---- NOW, please...

and every morning when he wakes up he says supper please ?? ha ha a little mixed up?Stinker! He is getting big so fast takes so good and is my worst back seat driver he is always telling me to go slower or faster or to just GO when I'm stopped at a red light, or pretty much directing traffic its pretty funny sometimes.

-----------------

and dear Kolten he is so funny he loves to learn, read and teach me things I didn't know.

He just started taking the bus this week { thankful for that in itself!!}

But I guess his teacher was worried about him missing the bus after school and took him to the bus met his bus driver and helped him on the bus..

He says: mom she treats me like a baby sometimes and it was so EMBARRASSING!

Had to laugh at that at least it wasn't me who embarrassed him this time eh!!

He is doing so so good in reading he loves to read!

----------------

Okay random but don't these look so yummy and easy!!

--------------------

"If you concentrate on finding whatever is good in every situation, you will discover that your life will suddenly be filled with gratitude, a feeling that nurtures the soul."

~ Rabbi Harold Kushner ~

So much to be thankful for there is something good in everyday even if you have to search it out! Have a great weekend!!

one more...

i love this quote...

"Your toddler will do what they need to do, and not necessarily what you say. If you're patient, then they will be patient. If you speak gently, then they will be gentle. Whatever you want them to be, you have to start becoming."

Aloha Bread
-Lion House Recipe

Ingredients:
1 Cup Butter
2 Cups Sugar
4 Eggs
1 Cup Mashed Bananas
4 Cups all-purpose Flour
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1 Teaspoon Salt
1 Teaspoon Soda
1 20-Ounce Can Crushed Pineapple, Undrained
¾ Cup Chopped Pecans
1 Cup Coconut
Method:
Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Grease 2 large 8x4-inch loaf pans. Set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, and sugar. Add eggs. Stir in bananas. In separate bowl mix flour, baking powder, soda, and salt, then add to banana mixture. Blend well, but be careful not to over mix. (Over mixing causes tunnels and a coarse texture) Add pineapple, pecans, and coconut and mix together on low speed until blended. Pour into prepared pans. The pans should each be two-thirds full. Bake for 60 to 80 minutes.
Makes 2 large loaves.

ME THINKS
He thinks ---thoughts by Dr. John L. Lund
I enjoyed reading some of these cause they make you think and some take a couple times to read I found them from somewhere out there awhile back so here ya go....
----------------------------------------------------

“Chances are you either married your biggest challenge in life or you gave birth to it!”
- Dr. John L. Lund. { I just thought this one was funny}

Stop saying to people: you need/you should/you ought. Instead say, "it would mean a lot to me if....."

Give a rational for your request.

Rather than define what your child has to do, define what you are going to do about their choices.

TAKE YOUR FRUSTRATIONS TO THE LORD AND YOUR LOVE TO YOUR FAMILY.

Transfer responsibility to your children as they demonstrate the ability to handle it.

Ask the children how they would like to hear things of a critical nature discussed.

You can't be FAIR to each child.

Let go of expectations that you will have their love and appreciation.

Parents are held hostage by fear of 'missed opportunities.'

A toxic child will give you what you want when you give them what they want.

Don't accept responsibility for stewardships beyond that which God has given you.

You can't share and teach beyond the level of their willingness to accept.

God can't take us faster than we're prepared to go.

If you're not happy you're not grateful.

We fought a war to be in control of our own happiness.

People have to learn things by the things which they suffer.

Hel. 13:38 You have sought all the days of your life for that which you can not obtain.

We can't control being loved, only loving others.

So many words of wisdom and things to think about.....
DO the best you can do and the rest will follow.

David Bowman has a new, beautiful print out called "Joy." It is absolutely amazing!

{Taken from HERE}

Here is the print and what David has to say about it...
"Joy"
Blessed are ye because of your faith. And now behold, my joy is full.
3 Nephi 17:20 "This is one of my favorite moments in the Book of Mormon. After stating this, Jesus simply spends some time blessing and interacting with the children, while angels descend out of heaven. In this piece, I wanted to depict our Savior in that moment of "full joy". I see Him smiling and laughing spontaneously,
filled with so much love for those young people,
to the point of weeping for joy (as it mentions in the record He did).
If its human nature to manifest feelings of joy and love in that way... then I have to believe that would especially be the case for the One who is the embodiment of every good and righteous instinct of human nature."~Dave Bowman~

{ Thankful Thursday...}

How fitting for today's post
{that I just won this from a blogger friend thank you Judy!}
COUNT YOUR BLESSINGS
It's exactly what I wanted to to write about and be thankful for today... my blessings, my health, My children, my husband all my blessings...Friends...
This past week I had a friend die that we knew in Florida when we lived there for three short months. But she touched my life more then she knows..
Her name is Lori. Read her story here. click under Lori's battle...

She is one of the strongest people I have ever met in 2003 she got breast cancer lost her breasts both of them. She got better for a bit but then the cancer moved to her lungs, her knee, her brain with 6 tumors causing her to lose her vision not all of it but enough and the lose of use in one of her hands which she used to teach piano with, she has 2 beautiful children ages 7, 5 and a wonderful husband.
She passed away last Friday....
It makes me cry, it makes me appreciate all my blessings my health the use of my hands, my eyesight, to be able to walk. My hair, all that makes us.
She was a beautiful singer, a beautiful mother of two. A beautiful Wife.
Who lost everything she lived for slowly, but she still counted her blessings each day,
she served others to the end,
and smiled despite every road block that came along.
She taught me to appreciate what I have, the small things my hands.... my hair...
she taught me to serve others no matter what your situation,
and she always loved those around her and made them feel welcome and loved.
She was a pure example of Christlike love despite the torture her body was going through.
She was a strength, an example of taking your trials and helping others through her example.
Every Wednesday we all went to Lori's house and let the kids play and we all talked or had lunch or just hung out for hours...
She was a friend to all and made friends easy she was fun, beautiful and loved her family more then anything. She taught me a lot through her example I learned more then I thought I would when we moved to Florida because of her.
There are special people sent to this earth with more then one purpose
maybe to help us all to learn and grow and be touched.
What a blessing to have known her.

{Me thinks Monday...}

Wow spring break is over! We survived and the kids were excited to get back to school today.
Crazy week we had warm weather cold weather and way to much wind!! Oh well thats the way it is! Overall it wasn't bad we took the kids on Thursday night out to eat and to the movie monsters vs aliens .We spent Saturday evening at my brothers for my sisters wedding present opening and dinner. It was nice to see them again before they head back to England and nice to get out! Not so nice for Masen the next day he was so overtired and threw the biggest tantrum ever when I brought him home to go to bed {which I've never done before and wouldn't usually but he probably would have got kicked out of nursery for sure this week...}
We also tried some potty training this weekend went okay but really he doesn't care and as soon as the diaper gets on its over.. he does like candy though haha!
Anyway basement is coming along just waiting on carpet and hanging our doors and baseboards they are all painted and done just have to get the time I SO cannot wait to get down there and especially to get Kolten his own room and decorate it all!!!
Here are some pics from this weekend....

ME THINKS...

soccer is taking over my life this week I've had over 30 calls this morning since games start tonight... and I don't have to much time to think so... here is a nice reminder in having confidence in all your abilities.
Sometimes we think we can't do things but having confidence in our ourselves and others around us helps us be tough enough to accomplish a whole lot more then we ever thought possible...

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!!

{ThankFUL Thursday...}

I am so thankful for many things
but today I am so thankful for music
Music can rile you up
make you cry
make you happy
make you want to jump up and dance
give you goosebumps
and make you feel raw emotion
create a feeling of love and spirituality
it can also invoke the opposite of all these things
....but it can create an atmosphere anywhere
including a place like this
I'm not sure why this made me cry the first time I watched it but watch the whole thing through...
made me think of what brings people together
what can and has the ability to bring peace and togetherness
JOY no matter where
watch the people some of the reactions ....
So thankful for all that I have
for friends
family
life
music....
{if you didn't check out the first link of the previous post yet either it will give you goosebumps too!!}

Have a great day... get up and dance!!
{ps I dare you not to with this version of do re mi....}

sigh... its cold again... I can see my breath... the kids are bored...I am bored.. so I'm blogging...just in case your bored.... actually I hope its warm and sunny where you are....
Read this blog
and watch the first video tribute. Beautiful girl.
Have some tissue though. Sad... tragic...

------------------------------
I got this email a couple of days ago and find it so sad when people try to make things look good or deceiving to pull people in. to twist and confuse people.. OPRAH is pushing this book very hard. there is a movie coming out of it too right away..... and some schools are using it as readable material......
Just so your aware pass it on....
BEWARE OF
If you have children or grandchildren, work with children at church, or you have neighborhood children whose parents you know, please take note of the information below and pass it along to others. Schools are distributing this Book to children through the Scholastic Book Club.

The name of the book is Conversations with God.. James Dobson talked about this book twice this week. It is devastating. Parents, churches and Christian schools need to be aware of it. Please pass this information on to Church/e-mail addresses, Parents, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, friends. Please pay special attention not only to what your kids watch on TV, in movie theaters, on the Internet, and the music they listen to, but also be alert regarding the books they read. Two particular books are, Conversations with God and Conversations with God for Teens, written by Neale D. Walsch. They sound harmless enough by their titles alone. The books have been on the New York Times best sellers list for a number of weeks, and they make truth of the statement, "Don't judge a book by its cover or title."

The author purports to answer various questions asked by kids using the "voice of God". However, the "answers" that he gives are not Bible-based and go against the very infallible word of God. For instance (and I paraphrase), When a girl asks the question "Why am I a lesbian?" His answer is that she was 'born that way' because of genetics (just as you were born right-handed, with brown eyes, etc.). Then he tells her to go out and "celebrate" her differences.

Another girls poses the question "I am living with my boyfriend. My parents say that I should marry him because I am living in sin. Should I marry him?" His reply is, "Who are you sinning against? Not me, because you have done nothing wrong." Another question asks about God's forgiveness of sin. His reply "I do not forgive anyone because there is nothing to forgive. There is no such thing as right or wrong and that is what I have been trying to tell everyone, do not judge people. People have chosen to judge one another and this is wrong, because the rule is "'judge not lest ye be judged."

Not only are these books the false doctrine of the devil, but in some instances quote (in error) the Word of God. And the list goes on.

These books (and others like it) are being sold to schoolchildren through (The Scholastic Book Club), and we need to be aware of what is being fed to our children. The children of our nation are under attack. So I pray that you be sober and vigilant about teaching your children the Word of God, and guarding their exposure to worldly mediums, because our adversary, the devil, roams about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour (1 Peter 5:8). We know that lions usually hunt for the slowest, weakest and YOUNGEST of its prey.

And just for a infertile laugh here is a button I found out there that doesn't have a working url attached to it but I thought it was so funny....

{ Easter Weekend.. Me thinks..}

Hope everybody had a fun Easter! My kids had way to much candy Kolten discovered that mom is the Easter bunny "helper" since he found the stash. sad. of course I was gone at the time wouldn't you think the garage was a good hiding place hidden in a cabinet?? with dad working in the garage?? apparently not. So we had a nice talk.. kind of like this... um well... you see ahh ..yeah that went good. Life at least it wasn't Santa yet eh! Fun times.
But we've had a fun few days with Easter activities my cute nieces birthday and it just being nice outside was huge playing outside, jumping on the tramp, picnics everyday outside, park runs, Kolt got a new bike so we've been on bike rides its just so nice to get out!!
Today it is hideously windy nice oh well at least its not snowing right!
So here are some pics from the weekend.....

I love the bed head look in these pics!!
I Love this girl she is so funny sometimes and so dang cute!!

Squished between her two brothers lucky girl eh~!~

I love this comfy relaxed picture since masen never slows down it makes me smile!!

I love this big brother picture!

How Can I not feel so blessed with three kids like these!!!

---------------------------------------

ME THINKS

Something that's so hard not to do sometimes....

DON'T COMPARE

{from the book tip a day guide to healthy living}

Do you ever have a bad day cause you feel like a nerd or you feel fat or whatever it is determines your whole attitude for the day and the way you treat others or our thoughts and interactions throughout the day....

"For some people it just won't sink in. Our bodies are amazing, miraculous and wondrous. By simply comparing ourselves to somebody else-be it looks, material possessions, or social interactions-we pile on unnecessary burdens and bring ourselves down. Comparing ourselves to somebody else isn't a positive experience. It isn't productive. And it doesn't motivate you to take better care of our bodies. Focus on your positive attributes and learn to value the immeasurable worth of your mind, body, and spirit as they work together to create that perfect person YOU! Don't ever let your day be positive or negative based on how YOU think you look. That rarely- if ever-matches what others think of US. Don't waste time comparing yourself to anybody else. Its about how you live. "

-------------

I flipped open to this today and thought wow I needed that cause I don't know about all of you but some mornings I wake up and start the day with an "I wish"..

I wish Masen was potty trained instead of hearing each morning mommy "I poppy change my diaper" oh how I wish he would just go on the potty...

Or I wish I looked that skinny....

Oh I wish I could look like that in that dress or bathing suit or whatever it may be....

So many I wishes everyday we all do it ...... i think I wish I didn't eat that or I wish I could lose 15 pounds just by osmosis or how about when we do get something say like a bigger house then we wish we had a bigger pantry when its so much more then we had and so much more then we need.

Does it ever end - when we get what we want then we think we need more or all of a sudden its not enough??

It's sad really I listen to a lot of people complain, sometimes about say being pregnant when I sit there and just wish I could get pregnant even just once. We have no idea how our comparing or wishing effects so much of our thinking that in turn it affects the way we feel about ourselves and the way we treat others sometimes.

Bottom line is comparative thinking doesn't get us anywhere we need to be happy with where we are what we have and fix the things that need fixing best we can and move on.

Look for the positive. Everyday.

"Isn't it ironic, we can turn our entire day into a negative experience based upon how we think we look-without knowing or even having the ability to comprehend what others think of us."

How we look is not who we are.

{just have to add that I know its natural to compare we all do it and it will never go away. That's just how we are made its just in the thinking and letting it ruin our thoughts and feelings about ourselves and others..its being positive and happy where we are. Because if we could walk in each others shoes I'm sure we would see some trials were glad we don't have.... none of us are perfect right....}

----------------------------

Have a great week!!

Friday, April 10, 2009

{oops.. time where did it go??....}

Since Friday is almost gone Saturday is almost here and Thursday has past lets just say I am thankful this week is almost over its been full of soccer soccer and more soccer!!!
Crazy how busy this time of year gets. I found this poem and it kind of fits for the most part how things have been this week especially after watching slum dog millionaire last week makes me appreciate so much that I have even on the busy don't get anything done at home weeks....

THANK YOU LORD ...
Lord, thank you for this sink of dirty dishes;
We have plenty of food to eat.
Thank you for this pile of dirty, stinky laundry;
We have plenty of nice clothes to wear.
And I would like to thank you, Lord, for those unmade beds;
They were so warm and comfortable last night.
I know that many have no bed.
My thanks to you, Lord, for this bathroom,
Complete with all the splattered mirrors, soggy, grimy towels and dirty lavatory;
They are so convenient.
Thank you for this finger-smudged refrigerator that needs defrosting so badly;
It has served us faithfully for many years.
It is full of cold drinks and enough leftovers for two or three meals.
Thank you, Lord, for this oven that absolutely must be cleaned today.
It has baked so many things over the years.
The whole family is grateful for that tall grass that needs mowing,
The lawn that needs raking;
We all enjoy the yard.
{wish I had grass and a yard to mow already oh and a fence lol}
Thank you, Lord, even for that slamming screen door.
My kids are healthy and able to run and play.
Lord, the presence of all these chores awaiting me says
You have richly blessed my family.
I shall do them cheerfully and I shall do them gratefully.

.....so with Spring break this week it should be even more fun around here...
But I love spring I got my first sunburn today of the year since Lauren and I had a picnic outside and talked it was fun. Kolten went with dad to town and came back with a new set of wheels..
a new bike that fits the growing boy so we went for a bike ride to try it out then we came home and had a picnic lunch with the boys on the deck they thought that was fun too!
So we spent most of the day outside it was a beautiful day. My parents came over this afternoon so we called my sister and her fam to come too and had dinner at the lake and let the kids play so it was a nice day! I think our neighbors might wish we never moved here with all the noise my kids make, oh well such is life right! They got tired out today playing OUTSIDE its been a long, cold winter sometimes I think this cartoon is fitting {we don't have video games but movies and tv can fit nicely in there too...} They have so much fun playing in the dirt and running kind of nice to they fall right to sleep and sleep longer! Perks to all its worth the extra bath a day!

-----------------------

I hope everybody has a great Easter I love this time of year its my favorite time new season, new grass, buds starting and a renewed love for the Gospel the atonement and the love our saviour Jesus Christ has for each of us. He died for each of us and was resurrected and he LIVES. What a blessing to me to know that he loves me and that he died for me. I am so glad that I know that he LIVES and that we will live again when we die.

"At this sacred season of the year, filled with the promise of renewing life, may we be more devoted and disciplined followers of Christ. May we cherish him in our thoughts and speak his name with love. May we kneel before him with meekness and mercy. May we bless and serve others that they may do the same" -Howard W. Hunter

"Nothing done before or since has so affected mankind as the atonement wrought by Jesus of Nazareth, who died on Calvary’s cross, was buried in the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea, and on the third day arose from the grave as the Living Son of the Living God—the Savior and Redeemer of the world."---Gordon B. Hinckley

HAPPY EASTER. Have a great weekend!!
