{Peace, Be Still... Sunday inspiration}

 {pause my music at the bottom then hit play}
sometimes music does something to the soul. it heals. touches something deep inside when we need it most. most times it comes at the right time. makes that worry a little more bearable. the hurt more tolerable. sometimes life gets thrown all upside down. sometimes the words help us move on to be renewed. to find courage. to see the good that surrounds us. to take the next step. There is a war waging in this world we need to have peace. be still. HE hears us sees us and understands what we can handle.
HE will not leave us.
I hope this song touches something in you. like it did for me.

Happy Sunday.

{10 Me thinks .....}

 !¡ ♥
"I always feel like January is sad and cold and depressing, this reminds me that it can be beautiful too, you just have to look for it."
 -anon

1. I do miss summer. The gray days get to me especially when D's been gone a lot with work and I have to much time to and lots of time to get projects done {or think about doing them}..... but sadly the truth is I ending up wasting to much time on here some days doing pretty much nothing or spending money I shouldn't;) and the days go by......

source
2. Takes one to be brave and stand up in this day and age. My kids are strong they aren't swayed by fads or what others are doing its kind of inspiring to me when they see what dumb things kids/people do and to have them come home and say hey mom..... it tells me they are STRONG... they are aware ...and they are learning right and wrong. I hope they continue to develop that quality and that they always tell us and talk to us. I hope they always see what path they need to be on always..... TAKES ONE TO BE BRAVE IN THIS WORLD WE LIVE IN..... sometimes to stand up it means to stand alone... BUT I'd rather be standing alone then to be weak and one of the crowd devoid of morals strength and tradition.

3. Lately these beautiful sunsets have me wishing so bad for my early morning summer runs... my very best thinking happens then its good for the soul... you miss it too;)

 3. My kids favorite winter meal....these turned out huge but were also a huge hit with the kids and this broccoli soup is the best! GF too:)
{I left out the nutmeg and bay leaves and used skim milk and it turned out super yummy:)
And I have used this recipe for years for the bread bowls

4.  I made these cookies the other day and all the kids loved them and said they're a keeper I love it when they say that:)..... though I think they ate the dough just as much as the cookie;) including their dad;)
The best Peanut Butter Cookies found here
The BEST Peanut Butter Cookies!
5. This looks amazing:) Its called a fitbit found here I need to step it up push myself and not get into a rut..... easy to do isn't it though January feels like that every year:( to me anyway? YOU?

Fitbit® Official Site: Force, Flex, One and Zip Wireless Activity and Sleep Trackers .......WANT IT

6. Love this.
I need to pay attention to today and worry less about what tomorrow might bring.

Have trust and faith in God!
7. K2 is very sure to tell us he is not a baby anymore........... thats a hard one to swallow can you believe he will be 5!! This year! What!! He is so fun the days he doesn't have school he always says "well its just us again what should we do" I love him.
Love that he is so so aware.
I love that he is sensitive and kind and tells me he loves me so many times a day he warms my heart everyday......
and everyday I thank my Heavenly Father for the gift he is in our family.
a peacemaker for sure.....a calming influence and a special little boy I love spending my days with him....

and he says adorable things like "Jesus makes ears so we can hear, but my ear is plugged and I can't hear! What are we going to do? Let's go to the Dr. " seriously. he just said that.

8.I often times wonder what people are thinking how someone could stray so far from "home" and what they've known, felt and been taught...it sometimes no not sometimes all the time makes me so sad:( I don't understand how someone can feel something, know it so strongly and stray from it even later in life and become so hardened..... surely that isn't happiness, but Satan sure is happy when he can disguise it as such.
It only strengths my will power makes me stronger and makes my prayers longer for me, my children and my husband to be able to make it through this journey, these tests. To make it back unscathed to badly by this swirling world headed for self destruction sooner than later with no values, morals or rightness to it. AND everyday proves that more.
Hold on.
"The face of sin today often wears the mask of tolerance. Do not be deceived; behind that facade is heartache, unhappiness, and pain. You know what is right and what is wrong, and no disguise, however appealing, can change that."
 President Thomas S. Monson

9. And this boy let me tell you some days I wonder what kind of mother I am....kind of like this status I put on facebook on sunday;)

"The kids who need the most love will ask for it in the most unloving of ways." {I need to remember that....for ex. when kid C kicks a hole in the wall...... guess he just needs a hug right;) Its going to be a good week!}

He's a good boy, strong, independent and  helpful yet as wonderful as those qualities are sometimes they are what cause the greatest frustrations in me and the house some days.... hugs hugs .....we will make it ....he's growing up so fast he gets baptized this year..... HE is destined for great things because he has some hard working Guardian Angels on his side the fact that he's still alive considering three different people saved his life so far thats big!!
We sure love him.....

10. And this girl is growing up to fast....thinks she's a big girl now;)

In the end.....
"I've learned from experience that the greater part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances." ~Martha Washington

So turn a gray day into a happy day:)
Enjoy the journey..

Make it count..

Our lives matter.

Simplify your life so you have time for the Lord! :)
The Littlest Screw
Author Unknown
There was once upon a time a village that was beautiful and well kept. The people were very proud of their village and loyal citizens. They held a meeting one day to decide what type of monument could be erected on the town square -- a final touch -- something both useful and lovely. They thought for sometime and finally decided to erect a beautiful, impressive clock.
They sent for the best materials -- for they wanted the finest clock they could have. The materials needed should be able to stand all kinds of weather and not tarnish, rust, or warp -- the very finest of clock makers was brought to the town to do the work.
Finally, it was finished and all the people came to see the clock and as each went around the clock looking at the exquisite workmanship, they each commented on the huge, impressiveness of the main spring that made the clock run. And each time something was said about the big spring a little screw located just above the spring wiggled and twisted and in envy said, "I'm not important, I'm not needed. No one notices me." The day went on and more and more people came to see the clock and over and over again the little screw would comment and wiggle and twist and feel very much unnecessary and unhappy.
Toward the end of the day just as the last few people were viewing the clock, someone made a remark about the main spring. And it was the last straw for the little screw-- it gave a twist and jerk and came right out of its place and as it fell to the base of the clock said, "No one notices me--I'm not important." But when the screw came out, the big main spring also fell out of place.
You see, the whole clockwork depended on the little screw.
--------------------------------------

This story for me reminds me of the role of mothers, fathers, aunts, brothers, sisters......whatever the roles we play in our families, society, church where ever ......  in what ever stage of life your in.
No matter what tragedy, heartache or life story your living
It applies to every one of us .....
Sometimes our minds tell us we aren't important
and what we do doesn't matter......
Sometimes it isn't all about us.
Sometimes its stepping out and smiling serving and seeing beyond our own self centered box.....
Sometimes we feel like
the little things we do don't make any difference
but THEY do
and sometimes its easy to push it aside and pretend it doesn't matter
to be unnoticed, unappreciated,
taken  for granted,
sometimes it feels overwhelming everyday, demanding,
and hard to take that so many little people or big people depend on what we do
whether its running the house, nurturing the children, teaching them training them and hoping its making a difference...
its teaching our children, our families that everyone is important and irreplaceable that their part matters
their part is apart of what makes us tick
a piece of the picture that completes us
that our attitudes, our will and our drive change lives & make lives and make the biggest impact on their future selves.
That can be totally overwhelming some days....
Some days it feels like I don't get anywhere with myself or my children that it was a wasted day and so many wasted moments....wrong choices and the little negative voices tell us we're not important, we're not needed." we failed today....
Yet
sometimes in the quiet moments overheard something clicks someone does something little that shows they get it, they see it and they want to do better ...
OR better yet we realize what an impact we all have on those around us how it changes reactions and actions because of the tone of voice or just being kind ..... it MATTERS and when we take the time to stop and see that...... it changes things, people, and situations it changes something inside and makes us feel like
WE matter. We do make a difference.
Sometimes I feel like that little screw and our family together is that big clock working together to make things tick when we realize we are all needed, wanted and important that our part matters it changes things.
For the better.
All of us matter we are all intertwined in each others daily lives in some way, either in passing or in our everyday actions, words and deeds they make a huge difference ..... a smile is all it takes sometimes..... a hug over a yell makes all the difference.
Sometimes choosing to bite our tongues rather than say what hurts.... it changes things.
We are all important.
Remember that.

 my greatest work right here:
I guess its been a big reflection week focusing on whats really important

because this past week it was my birthday

I did a little or a lot of reflecting on how I got here to this point in life {of taking bathroom selfies ha ha j/k } and where I/we've been and a whole more in looking forward to what I want to do and be..
and I feel my convictions, my testimony and my faith gets deeper and more ingrained in me with each passing year.... along with a deep love for my Savior and the Atonement...... and for my Heavenly Father
He loves Us..... He Hears Us.
I also know I've been blessed through my hardships and trials so far in my life.....they haven't been easy but I'm learning from them
Through the past 16 years of infertility and the ups and downs of adoption
they have helped me become who I am,  some years far worse then others but as the years go by they are just apart of my life story,  apart of what makes me but they don't define me....... they make me stronger they give me fight and drive and pushed me to go where I never thought I would or have feelings I never imagined it has
made D and I a stronger couple,
and one of our greatest aches...... became our greatest joy
a family in a route we never imagined
I feel so so blessed to have the forever family I do and to be where we are... to see the miracles that took place far before we came into the picture.....there is a bigger plan for each of us than we have any idea about.....
I've been to Ricks College, worked on a charter boat on the ocean , had many jobs in my life, many callings, and
I have been in the brides room in the Temple 5 times my
Top five all time spiritual moments in my life
have all happened in the same place
all in the temple
the most peaceful, calm reassurance that there is more than just this life I have felt it and I know it each time I set foot in the temple the most peaceful place on the earth....
I've cried my eyes out more times than I can count and still do sometimes and sometimes more for others having to go through the same pain.....
but I wouldn't change it for the world..... for the children
that D and I have the privilege of having as our eternal family ....forever.
I have a husband who happens to be my best friend too who loves me, honors me and puts up with me;)  and He gives our children the example of what a family is and what a husband and father should be.
Through his example to all of us we are stronger and better because of him. I could use a little refining but were all getting there;) with a little help;)
 .............................
Some Christal Realizations..

This past year held a lot of growth for me being the primary president the past couple of years taught me a lot about myself and getting out of my comfort zone it was hard for awhile being released and trying to find my place again and be useful..it made me realize we all just need to do the best we can no matter where we serve.

D being made a bishop was a big change in our home the past six months as I've said a before on here but I think I've become stronger though it and am learning a lot more about sympathy, empathy and how we come off to others and in general being more supportive of one another ..... no matter what....but we feel the prayers and the love in our ward too and that is a blessing to our family.

I made a goal of eating right and being strong with it and avoiding the things that make me sick or cause reactions and I also got up many early morning to accomplish my personal goals I set for myself. As frustrating as some days are its satisfying to know that I can do it.

I also had to let some things go and realize sometimes as much as we wish things were different for some that there isn't always anything we can do to change it. If we are doing the best we can then that is what matters most.

I did soccer, PTA and room mom duties the best I could

I watched the kids learn, go and make choices and grow up a little more. We made new memories together. I really think our summer memories and family trips and me and D's getaways are some of my favorite memories in life so far..... the times we are together are my favorite my own little bubble where everything feels just as it should.

Over all it was a good year lots of good memories and ready for a new year, new memories, new goals and a stronger me!
So here's to working on the 39th:)
        ----------------------------------------
etc.
I got one of my new years projects almost completed I still need dividers but I got all my recipe books organized and separated into three binders this past week I did Breakfasts and Breads in one all in sheet protectors and typed up or printed off....one for Main Dishes and Salads and another for desserts cookies and cakes so much better:)

" Everything we do matters - nothing is just trivial. It is all profoundly significant, and life is meaningful and full of purpose."

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."

10 on Tuesday 2014 edition;)

1. FACT: When its early morning and you ask your kids to get the smoothie stuff out for breakfast cause thats what they really wanted and thats what I do grant wishes;) Make sure you really check what your dumping in....... you know baggie of frozen spinach frozen berries some peaches and water ..... be present because that frozen baggie of spinach might turn out to be a frozen bag of green onions from your garden.....and you might just make the worst tasting smoothie in history and create the best laughs of the week ....simple joys or stupidity not sure on my part:) Was pretty disgusting thats for sure ...best part Kolten's face he took the first sip and I had the last laugh:)

2.  Scripture study is a labor of love here started the New Testament its hard to create habit to start with but I love that we've created and miss it when we occasionally do its worth EVERY SECOND I love our basket of dedication and what it symbolizes... to whats important.... Yes we realize there are CD's and electronic devices but there something about turning a page marking it up and really following along...... Morning Memories and life long learning:) {not my pic}
Great ideas on Family Scripture Study
3.  I started in my journal each night a thankful post so like a gratitude journal over the past few years I haven't been very good at journaling I suppose Blogging took over that so I want to record the little everyday thankful life moments so far so good here's hoping I can keep it up and create that habit.

4.  We tried this recipe this morning the kids loved it.

Pina Colada  MUFFINS
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 heaping cup sugar
1/2 cup sweetened coconut flakes
2 eggs, room temperature
1 cup buttermilk, room temperature
4 tablespoons butter, melted
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon coconut extract
1 cup canned pineapple chunks, drained
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and put muffins liners in muffin tin. Take out buttermilk and eggs, so they can come to room temperature. In a large bowl, mix together flours, salt, baking powder, sugar, and coconut flakes. Set aside. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together eggs, buttermilk, butter, vanilla, and coconut extract. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Don’t over mix or your muffins will be dry. Chop pineapple chunks to make mini chunks and then gently fold into muffin batter. Again, folding just enough to distribute pineapple bits. Sprinkle top with a little coconut that will toast during baking time. Bake for about 25 minutes or until the tops of the muffins feel set when gently pressed. Cool a few minutes in the tin and then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

5. Love this video beautiful theme for the Youth this year...

6. Glad the kids went back to school they were so ready! They were begging to go back;) for real they actually were...... we all thrive on routine around here obviously.....

7. Love this post here is some of it go read the rest here.....

"I remember meeting them for the first time, trying their chosen name on for size, watching them dream.  I look back at their baby pictures and can still feel their silky skin and downy hair on my cheek.  I revel in the memory.   Ooh, baby, I love being a mom.
Yes.  Being a mom is glorious.  But being a parent?  It’s challenging enough to make a no-nonsense military commander pass out cold."....

8.  I got a dehydrator for Christmas from my mom and I LOVE IT! Thanks mom! Even D was surprised how good the fruit was!! amazing! The bananas are just like the ones I can never find up here at costco so its getting well used!! Love it!
{Its a big deal people because I can't eat dried fruit that has preservatives because I'm allergic to sulpher dioxide...... just add it to the list I know blah blah blah eh;)
Last year alone I found out the hard way that I'm now allergic  to dried fruit with sulpha..... nuts except peanuts how weird is that!  mango, oranges, and kiwi ......add in a gluten free by choice/ mostly dairy free/ clean eating way of life and I got issues;) But I feel good:) and that matters!

9. Some New Year Wishes for me:

Want to read this year: {among many others:)

Bad habit I'm going to break:
{well make a valiant effort too}
not to be so impatient especially with the littles..

New Skill I'd like to learn:
-that would be to learn to use my sewing machine -I don't sew
and to index and do some genealogy.....
-maybe some arm knitting;) j/k but it does look cool:)

A person I hope to be more like:
I'd like to be a better me .... more in tune person to others needs to do things without being asked, bring a meal, a gift, some flowers, a phone call just because..

A place I'd like to Visit:
It probably won't be this year but I'm dying to go to Europe, Ireland, england Scotland, Paris and Italy
Thats my dream.
 .
and thats what I'm working towards and I have a big head start:)
all donations accepted  though ha ha;)
But in reality maybe we'd love to go back to St. George hiking, exploring and the grand canyon this year with the kids and they all think that would be pretty awesome again:)

A letter I'm going to write:
I want to be better at actually writing a letter to someone or sending a surprise package just because MAIL IS THE BEST!! Pretty much my favorite thing to do every single day is check the mail I'm weird like that;)
"Consider the postage stamp: it's usefulness consists in the ability to stick to one thing til it gets there." Anonymous

A need food I'm going to try:
Well maybe not me specifically since I have so many issues;) but I want to try at least one new family recipe a week my file of "to try" is getting bigger and bigger:)

I'm going to be better, stronger at:
being a mom, a blogger, a wife, sister and friend
reading, praying, attending and being present more

better at being me. who I am and who I can become:)
and 1 year older on Friday ahhh!
 how does that happen:)
The years are flying by...

"You have the potential to become anything to which you set your mind. You have a mind and a body and a spirit. With these three working together, you can walk the high road that leads to achievement and happiness. But this will require effort and sacrifice and faith."  President Gordon B. Hinckley.

{ Word of 2014.....}

The other day D and I were driving and I was talking about something and all of a sudden I knew that my word for 2014 should be
S t r o n g e r

it seemed fitting for every area of my life
I am kind of a passionate person when it comes to

family home and faith
{in case you haven't figured that out  yet;)
and more now than ever we need to BE STRONGER in our homes
as parents
as a generation children are lazier, are given everything, think they are entitled to everything
don't have to work for much
spend to much time on their devices without being present to whats around them or with what really matters
we have to be stronger if we want our youth to make it when they leave home and go out into the world it won't do them any favors thats for sure..
They need to be STRONGER inside where it matters

and I can do my part in helping by

Building a STRONGER foundation at home
a s t r o n g e r mind, body and spirit in every way
I can be stronger than my excuses
I can be a stronger voice in what I stand for and I can be stronger at standing up for what I do believe
because
Stronger
Sometimes we forget that
..."it never gets easier..... we just get stronger"

SO this year carrying on with last years GOALS and resolutions will be the same
To be stronger in every area of every goal I had last year for myself and my family
to be a BETTER ME
to be fully present and
really really listen to my children, my husband and their needs
to be what they need me to be by being stronger...inside happier and stronger together as a family..

"LIFE'S LESSONS MAKE US
S T R O N G E R"

Its true I feel like that the older I get the more I understand that they do make us stronger and they are all for a reason no matter what trial, what blessing, what person we come in contact with its all for a reason.... and sometimes it makes us think.......

Perhaps I am stronger than I think.

We all are no matter what life throws at us.

"Life is a struggle, but every lesson learned is Gods way of helping you grow stronger."

So for 2014
S t r o n g e r
braver, smarter

"Our family is a circle of strength and love. With every birth and union it grows. Every crisis faced together makes the circle stronger."  -

I'm stronger because I had to be. I'm smarter because of my mistakes. I'm happier because I have overcome the sadness I've known and I'm wiser because I have learned from my life.

 You're braver than you believe,
and stronger than you seem
and smarter than you think.
- Christopher Robin

Here's to a STRONGER 2014 for us all:)

HAPPY 2014..
This year...believe that anything is possible.
What's your word for the year? your goals? your dreams? your thoughts?
Who's still reading? who's new?
