{ Thankful Thursday and 100 Truths...}

Thankful Thursday
I am thankful that our RS visiting teaching skit we did for enrichment last night is done. I played a dead girl getting to heaven and looking down on her life on earth and what kind of impact as a visiting teacher she was in the lives she taught and touched without knowing it.....
I memorized all my lines and stressed over wheather I would remember them and in the end everything turned out really good. The songs were beautiful and added so much to the night.
I learned a few things doing it too.
I met new people and got to know others better.
I realized while performing our program last night that we are all
really, really HERE for a reason.
I mean I know that already
but we are here to help others, to use our HANDS for good in every way, to live each day like it really is our last, because we never know when we will be taken from this earth and someday look down at our lives and what will we see??? --what did we do with our time??? was it spent selfishly?? Or in always serving others and helping others lives be better, because of our examples and service. Did we listen when people needed us were we where we were supposed to be at the right time..
Will we have regrets? yes probably a few throughout our lives but for the most part will we be proud of what we have accomplished and done? the choices we have made?
I thought about a few things last night up on the stage and looking out at everybody that we all have different lives, different thoughts, feelings and have made different choices in life.
I thought about some of you and what some of you are going through right now,
we are all so important to our Heavenly Father he loves each and everyONE of us and we are all his HANDS here on earth and we all have something to learn from each person we come in contact with. We are here to learn and grow each day.
I'm Thankful for the people I have met throughout my life that have helped me, that have been examples to me, have taught me and who continue to teach me.
I am thankful for the journey so far.

{ Me thinks Monday...}

What a crazy weekend pretty much between D being away last week for 3 days, kids home on break, and cold weather we all pretty much have cabin fever. Except Saturday was beautiful!!
I ACTUALLY felt the warmth of the sun can you imagine that. It was so nice I got out and went for a run and only slipped on the ice twice nice eh!! But being outside felt so good!
Can't wait until its nice spring summer weather!!
Saturday D and I went on a day date and got away for a bit mostly because I needed out of the house but also cause D needed a new suit and actually found a couple of suits that he really needed so that was productive. Got some paint decided on and looked at carpet there is way to much carpet out there! Hard to choose.

Saturday night we watched Nights in Rodanthe {just have to watch the whole thing Betsy lol!!} I was bawling by the end! It was so good ! I like the notebook better but it was really good!
Sunday Masen got kicked out of nursery nice eh! I took him to the truck and he feel right asleep he must have just been totally worn out and tired. But seriously to kick him out of nursery. Missing nap time isn't a good thing on any day but oh well I'm over it.

Sometimes its frustrating moving especially into a new ward, being in our old ward they knew our kids from pretty much from birth and know that they are good kids.
But starting all over again in a new ward, it seems some people are easy to pass judgment.
Makes me more aware of my first judgments of people that's for sure, until we get to know people good its the first impression we get of people that we label them with, until we really get to know them. Not fair but its the truth we all do it.
Anyway I'm glad school is back in K and L were so excited to go back to school today. Kolt was excited to show his show and tell all his bead animals he worked on all week. And L was excited to go to center time. Her favorite part!
Anyway here are some random pics from our week.

Kolten spent hours working on these bead things. A little to advanced for Lauren and Masen but they had fun too. I think he made six of them he loves to build things whether its lego or a project with dad they spent hours together a couple of Saturdays building engines from a kit he got for Christmas with magnets and rubber bands etc he loved it!

And the nice little surprise sunday morn with Masen's name on it somehow with both D and I in the room he picked up the hot iron as quick as he does things and put it on our dresser Nice eh!! Maybe now I need bedroom furniture hum? But actually in about 20 years it will mean a lot to me right? Kind of a remember when moment - What a kid!!

ME THINKS

for this week

Think about this one and if your like me we don't have much to complain about, but we sure spend our time complaining some days. But reading this made me think how very blessed I am.

We get so used to our way of life that things like our bad economy hit hard cause we are used to living the way we do. But really even with that if we learn to live a little more self sufficiently, live with less and make do or do with out.

We are still far more ahead then some who live without {all of the time.}

-------------------------

"If we could string the earth's population to a village of 100 people, there would be:

57 Asians

21 Europeans

14 Westerners

8 African

--------------
52 females

48 males

70 non-whites

30 whites

70 non-Christians

30 Christians

---------------------

6 people would have 59% of the wealth, and all 6 of them would be from the U.S.A.

80 would live in horrible housing

70 would be unable to read

50 would suffer from malnutrition

Only 1 would have a college education

Only 1 would have a computer

-----------------------

If you have food in your fridge, clothes on your back, a roof over your head and a place to sleep...you're richer than 75% of the world.

If you woke up this morning with more health than illness, you are more blessed than the million who will die this week from sickness.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and change in your car, you are in the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of arrest, torture, or death, you are more blessed than 3 billion people in the world.

If you have never experienced danger of war, the loneliness of prison, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation, you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can hold someone's hand, hug them, or even touch them on the shoulder, you are blessed because there is love in your life."

--Unknown.

Makes you think doesn't it.

Have a great week!

{ Thankful Thursday..}

I am SO thankful for school!!
The kids are home this week for reading week break. But with dry wallers finishing up the kids are blocked from the basement because of all the clean up and dry wall dust,
so no fun places to go and its cold outside
makes me so thankful they go to school,
to burn that extra energy, have exciting things to do and look forward too
and I guess this selfish mom doesn't have to referee as much or redirect as much and gets a little time to breath ....
I love that my kids get out and learn new things, make new friends and learn from there experiences how to be socially grounded and see how things are for themselves to learn and grow, develop skills they otherwise wouldn't with the things they do in school.
I'm thankful that Kolt is the kind of boy who see's the kid's that aren't nice and we talk about it, or the kids who are less fortunate it gives us opportunities to serve, and him opportunities to help others.
I'm also very thankful for his teacher {and all teachers who do all they do everyday.}
I was a teachers assistant for about 9 years before Kolt was born. I love working with the kids they have so much to learn, so much to offer and they are so fun.
so did I mention I am so Thankful for school... ---------------
I'm so thankful our basement is completely dry walled, taped and mudded and the ceiling is sprayed and finished! Now onto the paint and carpet. I am just so excited to get it all done.
I seriously don't know how those of you who build do it I must just be really impatient and D and I always have to compromise on picking doors and handles there are just so many decisions and choices we have different ideas but we always come to a happy more logical ha ha medium! Crazy oh well can't wait to do a before and after in a month or so! hopefully anyway!! It's already looking so good!
-----------------------
I am THANKFUL for nap time. nuff said.
--------------------
made me cry, made me wish it was me too but so, so happy
for them!!!
----------------------
I'm also THANKFUL for the blog awards that I've gotten from a few people over the past few months that I didn't ignore, I just totally forgot to pass on. Thank you!
It's so funny to me how we get these blog awards and recognition in blog land, I feel almost bashful? or silly to get one and then equally the same to pass it on, kind of makes up for high school where I never got anything ha ha totally kidding~!
I got this one from Lindsay B. and Tina love their blogs too there are just so many great blogs! its hard to pass it on to only a few
SO What is this award about....
Bloggers who show great Attitude and Gratitude.
What you have to do....
Upon receiving The Lemonade Award, you also pass it on to other bloggers who you think show great Attitude and Gratitude.
So my pass alongs are my whole blog list of course I love them all and each one has a pretty great attitude of gratitude. But to play along here are a few:
Jodi
Tiffany
Amanda
Dawna
Janeal
Kim L.
KIM
Kimberly
Tasha
D-dawg
Then the I love your Blog award came from Kimberly M.
I love different blogs for different reasons my picks for this one are
{and I'm way to tired to put the links in today so just check them out from my list :}
Whitney cause she is sarcastic like me and I just enjoy reading her blog and she is fun!
I love Lynn's {private} because I learn from her every post she is a great mom and always has something new to offer someone of the many I hope to meet someday!
Love Holly's blog cause we are a lot alike and she always has a wide variety of ideas and wisdom.
I love Jill's blog because she is pretty much amazing, funny and has been through so much over the past year in trying to have a family but still is upbeat and positive.
Definitely an Attitude of Gratitude every time!
and Betsy because she is just fun and always has great things to share.
Lindsay B cause she just makes me laugh.
But I love all your blogs I wouldn't have them on my blog list if I didn't love them !!

Then Lynn just gave me this one yesterday.
I love all the comments I get all the insight and help and support mean a lot as you all know too. {With this one your supposed to pick somebody who gives the best comments but I love them all. }SO I'm with lynn just pick somebody who comments regularly and who I look forward to hearing from, since I can't give it back to lynn who is a constant and full of life and advice I look forward too.
Since I love all your comments you all can have it too! If I'm going to pass is it on to somebody I haven't picked yet it would be Alison {private} she is a great mom of four little kids, busy and she still finds time to comment in her busy life! -------------------------------
It's just interesting to think about what makes the blog world tick
what attracts people to some blogs way more then others,?
what do people like to read about?? {its different for everyone I think}
but its fun to think about ...
I love that everybody is different, that our personalities come through in our writing, I love gaining a deeper understanding of thoughts, of trials, of what makes people tick.
I write for me as a journal my thoughts what we are going through working on and what I love.
I do love to hear from people. I love that I've met so many awesome people through my blog. I love that some of us email back and forth. I love the questions people ask me. I love the talks with people who call or even come to my house to talk.
It's been a good thing for me I really do enjoy it and look forward to it.
I also love to know who is READING my blog !!
So today is your opportunity to DE-LURK I want to know who reads my blog to many times I go somewhere and its like a secret confession " I read your blog" totally fine I think its funny when it happens you just never know who does!
So To quote Denae:
"It's de- lurk day if your reading my blog even if you've never commented before. Just say hello, maybe tell me where you came from, or how long you've been reading my blog, or you can ask me a question and I'll answer it, or you can just say hi! The options are endless!
Basically, I just want to hear from who's reading. "
-----------------------
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.
~John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Have a great weekend!!

{ Me thinks... I've learned...}

ME THINKS Monday

What I've learned in the past week....
That sugar cookies are evil and for some reason keep calling my name
I've learned..... that the garbage disposal works great for the remaining ones that kept calling my name lol..

{the kids helped me make these so they don't look so martha but we had fun and they were so so good!!}

ME THINKS THIS WAS FUN TO PLAY AROUND WITH {especially after eating cookies..}

I've learned.....that I really miss my treadmill that is nicely tucked into a corner in the basement with plastic sheeting surrounding it gathering drywall dust just waiting to come out again {but I have to say they are working really fast on the basement its looking great!}......

I've learned that.... I'm really getting sick of snow and cold and ice and can't wait to go to the park with the kids or run with the wind {literally} and my i pod....

I've learned .... that it seems like there are a lot more adult content in children's movies like Madagascar 2 things like when they say at the end "Love knows no differences" {or something about boundaries} just before marrying the hippo and giraffe...
anybody else find something wrong with that??
I know the kids don't know the difference but it really bugged me..
I've learned that.... you don't bet your kids 5 bucks that dad will not buy a treat {cause your so sure he won't } when he goes in to pay for gas... then comes out with a treat ..
happy five buck richer kids yes...

I've learned that... sometimes your seven year old is right and sometimes teaches me something I didn't know.... Am I stupid?Or I just need to go back to grade one???

I've learned.. that no matter what you do you will not please everyone as hard as you try to make it work for all.

I've learned that... if there are dry wallers in your basement you don't raise your voice as much...
MAYBE we should all pretend somebody else lives in our house {say the saviour} all the time with us and that we should never yell or talk to loud anyway.. just a thought.. for myself.

Having been in primary over the last few year so often the words of this song run through my head :

If the Savior stood beside me, would I do the things I do?
Would I think of His commandments and try harder to be true?
Would I follow His example? Would I live more righteously,
If I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching over me?

If the Savior stood beside me, would I say the things I say?
Would my words be true and kind if He were never far away?
Would I try to share the gospel? Would I speak more reverently
If I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching over me?

If the Savior stood beside me, would my thoughts be clean and pure?
Would His presence give me strength and hope, and courage to endure?
Would His counsel guide my actions? Would I choose more worthily
If I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching over me?

He is always near me, though I do not see Him there
And because He loves me dearly, I am in His watchful care
So I'll be the kind of person that I know I'd like to be
If I could see the Savior standing nigh, watching over me.
-Sally DeFord

-------------------
I've learned... that just taking an hour every once in awhile to get your hair done is like a mini retreat! I love getting my head shampooed/massaged

{I know it seems like I just got my hair highlighted but my hairdresser is moving to Australia! I'm going to miss her!}

I've learned.. that life is full of learning experiences its what we do with them that matters.

What are you learning from LIFE??

{ HAPPY VALENTINES DAY....}

12 years ago we got engaged it was actually late night valentines day
technically Feb 15 ....
but after our valentines date.
He took me home after our date.
I was so disappointed I thought for sure after
ALL this time he would ask me to marry him especially on Valentines Day
After Christmas went by....
my birthday had gone by...
now valentines day had gone by...
SO I thought
Until there was a knock on the door late....
about five minutes if that after he had dropped me off
and he asked me to go on a little drive with him
YES by then I knew finally my dreams were coming true
so we drove to the temple and he got down on one knee and asked me to
MARRY HIM
he slipped the ring on my finger...
I laughed I was so happy... then cried cause I was so happy
then said
YES
that was the best decision I ever made.
I love Him with all my heart!
I couldn't ask for a better friend, better example
father to our children
and companion to spend the rest of ETERNITY with.
Lucky Me.

I love the TEMPLE all of them the beauty - the peace it gives each time I'm there makes me think of what heaven must be like... I am so thankful to live so close to one.

I love to shop and find good sales I rarely ever pay more then 20 dollars for shirts, hoodies or skirts and I never pay more then 30 dollars for good jeans its like in my head before I look at the price I determine how high I would pay for it. Am I just weird or does anybody else do this??

I LOVE yummy smelling candles and love it when people are reminded of something {baking or a memory associated with the smell} when they smell them that's why I love Salt City Candles. Just like my lotions I have candles for each season ocd?? not sure but I love it!

I LOVE history, world history, family history stories. I love learning how people lived, what things were like and how we came to be what those who went before us went through. This is D's g.g.g Grandpa. Anybody recognize him??

I LOVE living in the part of the country where I do we are more then sheltered and blessed, with the people, land and calmness that we have. Having lived in Florida, Utah, Saskatoon sk I have come to appreciate more where I am. It seems like we always want to be somewhere else then when we get there we only want what we know and love - HOME. Where ever that may be. With Family, Friends and LOVE.
I love and am thankful for the simpler things in life. I think often about the things we DON'T really need, that take away from the simplicity of life. The pioneers and those that went before us made it through life without a phone, without a microwave, without a car, life was harder but simpler. I think families were definitely stronger, cause things weren't so fast paced and distracting. Don't you ever feel like taking your family and moving to the mountains or somewhere without everything that distracts {not really but some days I really do??} SOMETIMES I wonder what they did with there kids without a TV and MOVIES, sad thought eh. But its true. They played more with them could send them outside and not have to worry as much. Simplicity.{ I also don't remember where I got this picture or the top from so if you know feel free to lmk..}I LOVE this BOY {I'll do the other 2 over the next two days}
He is a big helper
He loves school
He loves to tease
HE is so adult like and gets my sarcasm
He may be turning into me ha ha
He is an amazing reader
He loves sports
He loves to work with his Dad
He loves to say every night tell me a story when I was little
He has the beautiful brown eyes
I love his FRECKLES
HE is growing up way to fast
He makes me happy when he tells me I'm the best mom in the world
He is aware of others if they are sad, less fortunate or need help
He is very smart in school and loves math and spelling.
He draws really good too.
He has more friends then I probably ever had growing up
He makes them easily and where ever we go he mets new ones in minutes
He is a tv addict and could watch tv 24/7 if we let him.
He loves his stuffed puppies and sleeps on a big one for a pillow every night and holds a soft puppy and sucks {still like a little baby who is hungry? Anything really soft he sucks? I'm hoping it goes away soon}
He can not wait to get his own room and have his own space away from the other kids.
He is seven.
He is a JOY and I LOVE HIM. WE waited a long time for him.
HE IS A GREAT KID!

And my favorite Valentine Quote EVER!

Valentine's Day

I don't understand why Cupid was chosen to represent Valentine's Day. When I think about romance, the last thing on my mind is a short, chubby toddler coming at me with a weapon.

ME THINKS:

{ as you know I LOVE QUOTES: }

Think about this one:

I read this quote and had to reread it again a couple of times. What kind of home are you cultivating? I have some work to do its hard to change behaviour and reactions sometimes and remember that kids are kids. As hard as we try to make the effort sometimes its blown before we even get out of bed. What kind of tone are we setting in our homes??

“You can do a great deal to create in your home an atmosphere of peace and homeyness and reverence and tranquility and security. You can do this without much to live on. “Or you can create something angular and cold … and artificial. In a thousand different ways your youngsters will be influenced by the choice you make.

You can set the tone.

It can be quiet and peaceful where quiet and powerful strength can grow, or it can be bold and loud and turn the mainspring of tension a bit tighter in the little children as they are growing up, until at last, that mainspring breaks”

Elder Boyd. K. Packer
