Can I just say yeah Halloween is over {sorry whit} but all I want to do is decorate for Christmas now why can't we do that for two months my fall stuff is up for two months and seriously Christmas is my favorite time of the year....Anyway this is THE inevitable Halloween post you know the day after post that just has to happen well here's our version......
The beginning prep... THE pumpkin carving night
D was in texas all week so ours happened the night before halloween
and K2 wanted nothing more then to go back to bed after his nap so he was only out for a minute ANYWAY....
THE MIDDLE: okay then comes the costumes and school parties, Halloween parades freaky costumes, the 20 minute blizzard in the morning just as the kids were to get on the bus.....only one made the bus and then we had to "weather proof K's costume I put to much time into that one for it to get wet so it got packing taped:)
and probably the cutest "bum/vagabond?" ever:) he kept his hat on, wore the sign and learned that going door to door for candy was fun:) then he got tired and was done but he is pretty protective of "his" candy I think its called "MINE"................ he is so dang cute!!
....and then there is D and ME we went to a party last weekend and WE dressed up I know big right..... I was a little excited about this one
then is the END trick or treating excuse my I'm tired and done with this day face and messy sticking up hair :) .... the kids came home to an early Halloween dinner ....mummy dogs from our best bites
and other gross things ha ha........So I'd say it was a good day the kids had fun and thats what counts they got way to much candy and had way to much fun!! oh and with dad ....
SO another year over and done....The kids loved their costumes and had a fun day so it was a success I'd say. Here's to next year...
----------------------------------------------------
2. The plus part : OTHER THINGS:
 |
| We are done football what an awesome experience for K he loved it and learned so much was fun to watch him grow throughout it and become more confident and learn the game...now if only I could actually figure out what is going on lol:) |
3. M
 |
| One day M decided he wanted to wear these to school and if you know M he is pretty independent and when he wants something he is very very persistent so I let him what is the worst that can happen his teacher takes it away whatever not worth the fight what a kid he makes us laugh and makes us mad all in the same minute but we couldn't love him more!! | |
-----------------------------------------------------
4. A new recipe to try..... my kids loved it 2 days in a row when all kids and D eat something its a keeper...
Cheeseburger Soup
Ingredients
- 1/2 pound ground beef
- 3/4 cup chopped onion
- 3/4 cup shredded carrots
- 3/4 cup chopped celery
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 3 cups chicken broth
- 4 cups cubed potatoes
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups cubed Cheddar cheese
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 1/4 cup sour cream
Directions
- In a large pot, melt 1 tablespoon butter or margarine over medium heat: cook and stir vegetables and beef , until beef is brown.
- Stir in basil and parsley. Add broth and potatoes. Bring to a boil, then simmer until potatoes are tender, about 10-12 minutes.
- Melt the remainder of butter and stir in flour. Add the milk, stirring until smooth.
- Gradually add milk mixture to the soup, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to simmer. Stir in cheese. When cheese is melted, add sour cream and heat through. Do not boil.
----------------------------------------------------and my favorite quote of the week
"Don't look at what he/she is not,
look at what he/she is."
something to think about for some reason it really made me stop and think about it how true is that. Sometimes we look at people for what they aren't sometimes in our own families.... instead of looking at who they really are and loving that about them. We are all different and we need to be more loving and accepting of what is ......instead of trying to change or mold someone the way we think they "should" or shouldn't be.
5. and I thought this was awesome...
6. I have an evil neighbor {not really} who gave out fresh homemade doughnuts last night to her friends and .... in my binging last night I ate one of her doughnuts {yes this is a confession thats a big thing for me{after my like 15 year stretch of not eating one since I worked in a bakery} and it was probably the best thing I've eaten in a long time like melt in your mouth perfection...so good...
......until I went to yoga and almost puked three times from all the halloween junk and the doughnut..... holy!... sick.
7. I can't even believe its November the years are flying by and I can't stand it babies grow up, moments become memories and time goes by faster and faster....
8. oops this turned into a really really long post...
9. Saturday without going into detail, I got to do something I've never done before, meet people I've never met, do something that was beyond my comfort zone by myself and witness something that made me feel so deeply I couldn't stop crying for an hour..
I realized that things happen for a reason not one we understand.... I learned that there are always two paths in the road and which one we choose to take leads us on our paths in life. That choices are the biggest thing we have in this life because choices lead to the consequences no matter what they are there are always consequences good or bad.
I learned I already knew this but deeper that our
Heavenly Father loves us no matter what
that each of us has tests and trials and that the same scripture that has deep meaning to me personally, may just have deep meaning for you too but for completely different reasons. But they are there for us.
Does that make sense?
I learned that sometimes the mistakes and pain we cause others because of our choices, the ones that result in life altering change and the ones that affect others all around us so deeply and beyond words is more than the mind can handle sometimes ..... there aren't words to describe those feelings that come from that.
That sometimes the words I love you ,or the tears streaming down your face or the tight hug mean more then anything else that could be said.
And essentially thats what the atonement is too.
10. I'm done. Have a great week.
A great life and make someones day :)

All the costumes look great!
You have to tell me about Saturday.
And I forgot to tell you about Masen in school. They played a game where they had to lay still on the floor and the special helper called out when they moved then they were out. Tons of the kids moved accidentally and then some moved on purpose just because they couldn't stand it anymore. Mason lasted until the teacher finally made the last kids quit because it was time to go. Never seen him sit still for that long!
PS he was great in class. Roman was a bit crazy, I am hoping because I was there!
i am curious about Saturday too. And evil :) hahahaha TOo bad you got sick! All your kids looked GREAT!
Yes, what did you do on sat? Your kids are adorable! Loved all their costumes!
LOVE all your costumes Christal! So creative. I'm going to have to remember some of your ideas for next year. Your family looks great! I'm with you - now, on to Christmas! :)
Your Halloween looked great, you look like such a fun mom! Great costumes too!
Oh my goodness, you are way too amazing! I look at your little family, and you just look absolutely perfect. I hope one day to have a family as cute as yours. You are such a great home maker, wife, mom, sister. I just love you. I can't wait to see you at Christmas.
CUTE halloween stuff. you and d looked great! i loved the happiness quote. i wish derek was done football. i'm sick of it. i've been watching him play/coach for 10 years and i swear i learn something new every time i go.
I LOVE your costumes!! Great ideas. I'm impressed that D even got into it. Great couple theme. I think the last time my D and I got dressed up for Halloween was when Cassie was in Elementary. Sad. I know. But it was fun. We went as a nurse and patient. A party to go to would be a good excuse to dress up again.
P.S. I am with you on Christmas! I can't wait to pull out the boxes. As soon as we clean up this reno mess. lol
Thanks for the dinner idea, the soup looks yummy. I think we have everything for it but sour cream, they don't have it down here.
Your costumes are great!
I love Christmas too. It will be different this year. For some reason we didn't bring any decorations. Not sure what the house will look like. Little sad!
Okay...little K in his costume is adorable!! My hubby and I were laughing at how cute he looks :) All your kids look great! I love halloween and love how happy and excited the kiddies get over it. We don't do much trick or treating except to go to our neighbours and then of course grandma and grandpas! But the boys loved it :)
