Where you feel like a bad mom?
or days that nothing goes right?
Or everything hits on the same day?
Or everything hits on the same day?
that would be my saturday...
consisting of..
-a sad cub who went to a scout jamboree who was embarressed that everyone would think he never earned a badge yet..in his words..
"because you haven't sewed any of my badges I've earned on yet.." quivering of the lip kind of saddness-ouch
{I don't sew and truthfully i'm afraid to sew something like those on that will /could be crooked??...so I obviously put it off to long..
i cried and felt like a bad mom.
-one of those days where everybody leaves me with all the million mom things that need done ..that I really had no desire to do.. D went waterskiing {die hard.. freezing waters but loved it!}and granted he did take M with him,
K was at jamboree, L was grouchy, grouchy cause she had to clean her room and toy room before she could go outside and she was hating me, and little K2 had another blow out all over his crib.... oh joy...
-and to top it all off I lost my bank card
{but thankfully some boys I taught when they were five and who are now about 15 found it and gave it to one of there dads and called me the next day yah! maybe I did something right ha ha!}
-same day we had some curious adoption questions from a friend of K's who curisouly asked k {and I overheard} asked to K
that I wasn't his "real" mom or why was he adopted...
K who answered awesomly...
" I had a birthmom that was only 16 and wanted me to have a mom and dad a family and she picked one and now I have one.." just like that..... oh how I love him!!!
and yes once again i cried.
it was not a good day.
BUT
D got to ski...
.....D did get done the playhouse finally
{excuse all the hoses and junk.}
k learned to build with Dad's guidence and built the picnic table all by himself...

the kids had a long fun day playing.
We got to see my bro and his wife briefly when they stopped into visit we always love seeing them..
of course my good points of the day were my sister who dropped by with a surprise garage sailing gift... thanks for thinking of me girl
and of course whitney for reminding me that I have friends who care too..
so life isn't all that bad just some days but there are always reminders to everyday how blessed and thankful we are.

Sunday we went to the parents house and went on a walk boys and there swords where ever we go...
he finally stayed on the grass for more than a minute! He hates grass...
with the kids it was a nice relaxing night that we all enjoyed! SO overall it was an alright weekend.

Me Thinks
That some others are doing some thinking this week.
These 2 links are well worth the read.
HERE
and
Here.
Both something to think about. Tell me what you think. All I know is I will be buying the book of the last link.
So true on both accounts.
WHAT ARE WE DOING??
We are not human beings on a spiritual journey. We are spiritual beings on a human journey.

" In the name of love, we….
Give them entitlement rather than responsibility…..
Give them indulgence rather than consequences…..
Give them instant gratification rather than discipline…..
And give them dependence rather than ownership!
We are trying to control our kids rather than giving them control...
And instead of teaching them values, we are teaching them to value the wrong things......"

Oh Man! Life can be hard as a mom! You have such an amazing family. You are a great mom! I still have days that I feel like nothing is going right and the kids are all gone, but we are always MOM'S! I hate that they grow up so fast, so enjoy all the hard times! :}
oh those days!... at least they help you to appreciate the good days right?
oh, and cub badges.... they staple or hot glue gun on great (only when you're in a realy jam!ha)
Oh, sorry you had a hard day. Hopefully tomorrow will be better! You're such a good mom though. I ♥ K's response. You've taught him well and he knows he's loved and so grateful your his mommy. That was sweet. I love your playground too. We need something like that. How awesome. Have a great week. I know you will because you always look on the bright side!
I checked out the links - that book looks great. Ty and I talk about that alot, and it's been hard coming up with "solutions". (hopefully they'll be in there!)
P.S. You're a great mom.
We all have our bad days...makes us appreciate the good ones!
We're sneaking into your backyard to play. We miss grass!
I say glue gun the patches! Or come over and I'll help you sew them on silly. Glad the day turned out better. How did me coming over and yelling at you because you have will power over deserts and I don't fit in? Part of the bad day?
Oh Christal. That glue on the badge thing is SO me. Trust me. It works. I know. Three boys. Three sashes each... There's fabric glue. I bought it in bulk! I glued my boys badges on and then when they were dried I would very carefully and slowly just do a straight edge stitch on them with the machine sometimes, so they at least wouldn't get ripped off at camp. But sounds like you've got lots of offers for sewing them on too. That is awesome!
I don't sew either. So I would take them up on it. ; D
Don't beat yourself up. Your kids are GREAT kids because they've got a GREAT mom! What a grown up and very mature answer for K to give to his friend about his adoption! You've taught him well. He obviously is very comfortable in answering questions like that. Good job!
Great me thinks links!!! I want to get that book too someday.
You are a great mom and give everything you have to your kids, and it shows in how wonderful they are. I've been meaning to talk/apologize to you about our twinner suburban situation...we normally try to be a little different than everyone else in the things we get, although both Tyler and I DO look to you and D for examples of how to do things right, especially parenting. You are amazing, and don't let you or anyone else try to tell you otherwise!
You are wonderful Christal! We all have those days, that's for sure. Good thing we can keep on tryin'! :) Thanks so much for the link to that book, I love the Eyre's and have a book Shawni wrote with her mom about motherhood that is one of my favorite books ever. I want her new book now! And so cute of Miss L. Love her drawings!
I am so sorry that my kid caused you to cry. I really know he is just overly curious and like me doesn't know how to keep his mouth shut. So Again I am so sorry.
You are an great example of a great mother. I am proud to call you friend.
Like anything of eternal importance, your mothering will be challenging and frustrating sometimes. I think one key to contentment is to recognize the payback times, like K's wise answer. And to forgive ourselves for the impatient, grumpy times--that's what the Atonement is for. Here's the url of an article I just read that reminded me of this post--http://ldsmag.com/happiest/100616dangerous.html
And the best payback comes when I see my grownup kids parenting with compassion and empathy-- I'm sure your mom knows the feeling!
Yes, we all have those days. Bryce seems to be testing me lately and the terrible twos seem to be coming but I am trying to prevent them all at the same time. You probably don't know how much I look up to you. I think you are amazing. You seem to have such a good balance with life - eating healthy, spiritual, crafty, family time, thoughtful, domestic, desire to raise good kids with values etc. I think you are great and amazing so don't be too hard on yourself.
I read her blog randomly and have been wanting to get her book - the mothering one. The new one coming out seems like it will be great too. I will have to buy both of them.
The story of K telling his friend about his adoption was a total tear jerker for me. Just thinking about it now makes me tear up again. I am so proud of him and so glad he is part of our family. You are a great mom, honestly. I really look to your example a lot. Your posts always address important things about being a mom and not just the trivial that are too celebrated and talked about these days. I love you!
Thanks all for the advice links and love!
