{{Thankful Thursday...}}

THANKFUL I LIVE HERE RIGHT NOW....

and NOT HERE.....

....That in itself should make us all thankful to be where we are right now..
I'm thankful to be born where i was...... to live where I do and to have what I have.... to experience..... to live and to learn what I do.........
we are so very blessed ...........
-------------------------
IT Makes me appreciate what is most important in this life
our families... our husbands, wives, children, parents, .prayer..faith....
our memories because if everything was wiped out for us, I think its our families and those closest to us that we'd be most worried about ....
I'm thankful for MEMORIES, and all that got us to where we are today......

.....so you know how you hear a song and it brings you back to where ever you might have been at that time or a time and place that means something to you.....
well this {turn up your sound song by Easton Corbin called
I'm a little more country than that
did that for me today
.its a new song but it sounds alot like the songs I listened to when D and I were dating....
part of the lyrics are....
{{for you country music lovers you'll love this post but go with it k ! ;)
....I'm have a sappy, lovey, cheesy memory day!}
anyway back to some of the lyrics...
......I just want to make sure you know just who you’re getting under this old hat
Cause girl I’m not the kind to two time or play games behind your back
I’m a little more country than that
...
got me thinking about what's under this hat.....
.....I got a hard working man
..someone who stops anytime someone who needs help with a tire or whatever
...a man who will shovel not only his driveway but the whole neighborhoods and take his sons with him
.....I got a man who grew up on a feedlot and learned the value of a dollar at an early age, the value of a women and who learned to work hard
...who has five sisters and 3 brothers and knows how to treat them and his mother
...a man
who loves me..despite my downfalls...
...who is the real deal.... {handy too}....
......who is a great father..... is a lot of fun,
.....who laughs with me, at me and with me
..who is a lot of fun...
.....a man who honors his priesthood
..who served a mission
...and still lives his life that way
...who worked so hard to get to where he is today
...is someone I'd want for a boss cause he cares a lot...
...who together we've been through a lot of hard things but together its made us stronger
I got a man who makes me want to be a better women
this song for some reason brought me back to the old dating days
where I sat and waited for the phone to ring
and the minute he called I was there....
.....hauling hay, learning to drive, spending  hours in a tractor getting to know each other
..sitting right beside him in his red truck heading out to a field or on a date didn't matter I was just happy there right beside him...
.....waiting for him at a YA singles dance and wondering if he'd ever come and finally just before the end he drove an hour for me to get the last dance in ...
.....I remember wishing he would come in when I was working a shift and when he actually...... did all dirty and rugged from a long days work in the field hauling or baling..... I wanted that more then anything.... that  country boy and that life.
..I remember thinking I would die when he left to go to college
and being beyond happy when he came back 3 days later and enrolled in a college close to me
that's love.and I was in it... I'll always be so happy he made that decision..
..I knew I loved him from the start just took him a little longer...but I'm glad he took the time to know for sure...and
I couldn't be more thankful or in love with him and our life...for the decisions and different courses our live has taken us on....
it's only made us stronger and given us four beautiful children we wouldn't have had any other way then the way they came to be apart of our eternal family..
the years go by so fast and there are so many things over the years that have brought us to where we are now....
But I'm thankful for all it the easy, the hard, the heartbreaking, the exciting, the disappointing......
because its part of who we are, a part of the journey
called life. part of what makes us grow up I guess...
but
sometimes I miss the old days
.....so I'm glad we have lots of memories!!
I realize as the years fly by that you know we feel the same inside no matter how old we get. Whether we are the young 22 year old just starting out, the 35 year with a little more experience... living and learning, or the 55 year old realizing that our kids are grown and now the memories of those kids and the things you've been through are what matters most in this life, memories and making more,
or maybe we are the 88 year old in the rocking chair looking back on the life and memories we've made we still feel the same way inside but things are different, changed and i hope
I always have the things that matter in my life no matter what stage.
I hope I don't look back and have regrets. I hope I always have my memories.
Especially all the good ones..... the ones attached to a song, a child, a sunset...an old red truck.
.....and especially the one's associated with the man under that old hat.
wow life eh. its full of everything.
so for my embarrassment lol and your  viewing .....
from back in my wrangler wearing, big hair {that I cropped down} ..wearing days
our engagement picture from back in the day ha ha.....
to here.... things change but what matters most stays the same....
our faith, our gratitude. our happiness...our memories.... and our joys
....WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT....
kind of a random nostalgic post.. sorry...
Have a great weekend
make some memories ....worth remembering......

What a priceless post. And the amazing thing is that your kids can read it when they are dating and trying to find a spouse. I love blogs for that reason. You are amazing and I am so blessed to have met you.

Haha, you're too funny, you show us your puffy allergy eyes, but are too embarrassed to show us your old hair style (which is by the way how I remember you). You're cute at any age Christal!
Lovely post about your hubby, I hope he saw it!!
Your dating memories brought back a lot for me; riding in the tractor, sitting on the floor of the one seater swather, getting dusty and dirty as we ran the auger, me asking a bazillion questions, me feeling impatient with how much work he always had to do, feeling annoyed that he was never in the house to answer the phone (always outside working) and his parents didn't have call display or even an answering machine back then. O.k., so obviously I need to do a similar post haha.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts again, always well said.

Cute post!!! SO sweet! I am with Amy. I hope D read it.

I love going down memory lane. You are so right.....no matter how old we get the feelings still are there. They come flooding back in when you hear a certain song or see a picture.

The kids may think or say "EW" while rolling their eyes when we chase each other down the hallway or when we just end up on the floor wrestling......but who cares. We are just "old" people still thinking and acting like we were in the days we were dating. Those feelings never change. Or at least they shouldn't. I honestly hope they don't for people.

Anyway. Great post!

Love the engagement photo.. However, I would of loved to have seen it before being cropped........I bet I could win hands down on how high my hair was back then! LOL!

Awesome. Just what I needed today. How did you know. haha I guess we all need reminding of the good days and the gifts we have recieved in life from our Heavenly Father-the fun, the love, the trials that we grow strong with, the little children he entrusts in our care.
