My goals..to have regular everything in the morning
They are basically the same goals I've always had
spent time individually with my children
Have regular prayers
scriptures
family home evening
alone and together the first two....
Goal to go to the temple more than once a month
Goal to have children who are respectful honest diligent and have strong testimonies
Goals to have those things that are important
sometimes I ask myself do they mean alot to me or to all of us as a family
Goals to workout everyday
Goals to keep up my journal
Goals to grow old, go on a mission, travel
Goals to be there and see a need to whoever needs it..
Goals to get to where we want to be in the end....
Goals

Always a new one...
always working on or towards something....
cause Goals are good and so are DREAMS..

ps I couldn't stand it anymore!!!!D caved and I decorated for Christmas and put our upstairs tree up!! Added some turquoise to the red and green and I love it!!!
So question is when do you usually decorate for Christmas??
Any fun Christmas traditions??
On the last Monday night in November is usually when we decorate the tree we decorate than have hot chocolate and watch polar express together so fun....the kids can't wait and think its totally unfair that I decorated the tree upstairs already :) when I'm done I'll share!
and the NEW thing for the this year that I'm doing is....
.... wrapping up 24 of our Christmas books {you can get some from the library if you needed too} with each book we unwrap each day will be our advent for the day I am so excited we all love books around here and then each day they get to unwrap a present 2!!

Went to Lethbridge and bought a bunch of books today for mine!
The niece of Dean's cousin (did you get all that?) just asked the same thing on her blog...so I will just copy and paste my comment here for ya'. LOL! Looks like your new tradition is one of ours. ; D Hope you are feeling better!
" We always did the "count down" to Christmas by giving each of the kids ONE book a day to read from our "special for Christmas only books" that I bring out with our decor every year. They go back in the storage with the decorations when Christmas is over. Or if books are too much (although there are some really great deals on books right now) you can always print off a Christmas story from on-line and laminate it or page protect it and put in a special Christmas binder. Collect stories to add to your binder every year. This is where we collect all our favorite Christmas recipes too. And craft ideas.
We also like to let the kids put up "THEIR" special ornament on the tree that marks the "official" tree lighting for the first FHE of the season. It could be their "Baby's First Christmas" ornament or whatever was special to them. But it has to be the same one put up each year.
Another great activity was making a paper chain of all 25 days in December. Hang it up and cut off one chain per day for another count down activity.
Making nativity puppets, and sugar cookies are other ideas. They loved to play with the dough, roll it, and cut out their own shapes... before baking and decorating. You could make this a party with other families. Then everybody takes home their own plate of cookies. Somewhat like a cookie exchange party.
Another fun idea we still do to this day is purchase a nativity set that has at least 12 pieces to it. We "Secret Santa" another family by delivering ONE piece of that nativity a day in their mailbox with a note regarding what they should expect (a surprise) for each day of the 12 days of Christmas. The last day being the delivery of the baby Jesus. If it's too much to drag the whole family out to do this.....why not have your own kids be "secret santa-ed". We've done this too. We left a secret package in the mailbox or on the door step each day for our own kids. (Hope they don't read this. LOL!)

We love the 24 books of Christmas too! And I love your idea of putting up the tree on Monday for FHE and then having hot chocolate with Polar Express. I think we'll start doing that too! One thing we always do is the new Christmas jammies thing and sleeping under the tree one night before Christmas. So fun to be thinking of the Christmas season... I love this time of year!
Ok I told you I'd fill you in on some of our ideas...Here's some of our traditional leading up to Christmas activities. We have a ton of fun doing these!
We do a whole lot of everything counting down from 24 (of course) every day we open from mini scrap-booked matchboxes magnetized to a magnet board. Some of the things in each days matchbox (each day has to be very well planned out in advance with all needed supplies and a calendar for this countdown to work)
So we do anything from crafts, to new books and puzzles, games, concerts, an evening to drive around looking at Christmas lights, we have a saturday set aside, forecast pending (should be super cold for this to really mean something) we make hot chocolate in a thermos before hand and buy some warm gloves then we drive around a city nearby and usually we get the chance to give the items away to someone who is in need/homeless and cold, with a friend we make gingerbread houses and/or candy trains and watch The Polar Express, sing christmas hymns as a family and read the christmas story from the book of mormon and the bible, make clay nativity sets, go to a christmas movie or rent one together make & eat some festive popcorn, have a family home evening based on the story and dvd "The Christmas Orange" we eat mandarin oranges during the movie, another day might be to do a service for someone in need (shovel someones driveway as family), another one could be to build a snow family, go sledding and have a snow ball fight come home and make hot chocolate together warm up by the fire, watch a live nativity, sleep by the christmas tree the night before christmas eve, watch The Nativity at the end on Christmas Day.
That's just a few of the things we do quite honestly I think we have more fun doing the Countdown to Christmas than we do on the actual day. I love the whole month of December more than ever before since starting this countdown....Kinlee gets so excited for each days Surprise Activity and I love doing organized activities with the kids, seeing their faces light up and the eagerness in their eyes while they anticipate what the next activity is the best feeling ever.
We'll probably call Masen and/or Lauren over for some of the days...I'll let you know but we'd love to have them come join in on our countdown as well sometime :)
I love the idea of wrapping the books. We do the book thing too, but never the wrapping. How fun. The kids will love it.
