I know your thinking I'm crazy its November 1st but hear me out....
Me THINKS
I just saw my first "Christmas" commercial of the season today it made me tear up then it made me sad.......Happy Holidays....it was clearly about CHRISTMAS and the sights and goodwill feelings of Christmas....
To me...... CHRISTMAS is a feeling, people seem happier, more willing to serve, more willing to look out for others, a time of traditions of making others happy......but most of all.....
Christmas is about and because of one thing that is the BIRTH of our Saviour Jesus Christ.....
A time When the world seems more united and whether they want to admit it or see it for what it is...its because those feelings, traditions, serving others, the love of family, closeness, and love is probably the most
CHRISTLIKE time of the WHOLE year....if only people would open their eyes and see it for what it truly is. THE spirit of CHRIST mas.....
a feeling I wish we could keep close all year long.
First some started with writing and saying Merry Xmas {to me the first step to taking Christ out of Christmas and putting a big X over HIS name and place....a huge pet peeve of mine}..to where we are now being replaced with happy holidays etc...some towns and communities across the nation are telling there employees or others to say happy holidays instead of merry Christmas..{because it might what once again offend someone seriously.....
..its heartbreaking to me..and I clearly make a point of saying merry Christmas in reply to anyone who says it to me....
Why do we live in a world where everyone is so easily offended by things that once held all things together.....the way things have always been....I know times change but values and morales shouldn't... can't we see that things worked best that way and the more people censor and take "CHRIST" out of everything the more wrong and twisted our world becomes....
I think our grandparents and great grandparents etc... are so glad they were born when they were when times were so much simpler...yet harder but for much different reasons. I on the other hand in my house want to keep the traditions and world of my grandparents in the world of today...... and so as for me and my house it will always be MERRY CHRISTMAS.....
Make the extra effort this season to say it as it is was and always should be....
Merry CHRISTMAS.
{when its actually the season..... I know this is super early but is it just me or is CHRISTMAS stuff popping up way earlier every year Christmas merchandise, music, commercials all of it....}

And something I've been thinking alot about lately and as this is Adoption month which you all know how much I love adoption and each of my childrens birthmothers and families.
I simply wouldn't be where I am today with out any of them....
"You have nothing in this world more precious than your children. When you grow old, when your hair turns white and your body grows weary, when you are prone to sit in a rocker and meditate on the things of your life, nothing will be so important as the question of how your children have turned out...Do not trade your birthright as a mother for some bauble of passing value...The baby you hold in your arms will grow quickly as the sunrise and the sunset of the rushing days."
Gordon B. Hinckley

We worry about what a child will become tomorrow, yet we forget that he is someone today. ~Stacia Tauscher
Have a great week...

What great thoughts about Christmas, I agree with you wholeheartedly. And it will be here before we know it! Love the picture of your kids, love that it's National Adoption Month, and love those quotes about kids. They do grow up too fast and we need to soak in every moment we can with them while we can still hold them close!
Well a Happy Holidays to you!
Ha Ha.
I'll say Merry Christmas to you, but not until after US Thanksgiving!
Merry Christmas, Christal!! :o) I love Christmas, and actually just finished my shopping today! Yay for avoiding crazed shoppers during the holiday rush and getting what I know my family will love instead of buying something just for the sake of buying!
Another thought about the 'Xmas' thing -- interestingly enough, though they've x'd out Christ's name, it's still a symbol of him because of the cross. :o) So they can't get rid of Him that easily! Have a great day!
I so agree with the Christmas season. I can't believe it's coming so quickly. I might have to steal one of your quotes for my status on facebook. I just love that last quote. I need to remember that a lot more!!!
I love your views on life and all the craziness in this world. I have to agree with you with all my agreeingness (new word). I too am so looking forward to Christmas and may just have to put up my tree before my birthday this year!!
I hear ya, I was venting to someone just the other day about "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas".
I wholeheartedly agree...we are from the same mould right!? I love Christmas for the real meaning not the "holiday" side of it or the crap that comes from stores. That is a great picture of the 3 oldest kiddies! Family IS what really matters. Great Post. For some reason I am ready for Christmas this year and want to decorate right now! I love Christmas :)
well i was not expecting to see that big ol merry christmas just yet! i love christmas and everything about it. it's just a beautiful, fun, exciting time of year on so many levels. it will never be 'the holidays' to me.
I am SO glad that you wrote this! I agree 100% with you. So guess what.... my Christmas tree is already up! I LOVE Christmas to say the very least and I feel completely comfortable to extend the season just a little bit and honour our Saviour with our decorations for just that little bit longer- call me crazy, but I kinda like having my tree up in November! xx
Hi!
I am MIA for sure. I need to get back to blogland. Miss it. And you!
Love your ME thinks.
Here's one for you....that whole "X-mas" thing use to bug me a lot too until I found out the story behind it. It's quite interesting. I shared it with my kids one year during our Christmas 12 days of Stories. Our missionary son, surprisingly remembered it and just asked me last week for a copy of it again so he can share it with those around him on his mission. He wanted to let them know as well, as to the REAL reason why x-mas was started. It actually is greek for CHRIST. The greek letter Chi ('x') is the first letter for the greek word for Christ, Xristos. Xmas therefore means "Christ's Mass" The abbreviation has actually been around since the 16th century.
Christmas to Xmas X\was first used by Europeans in the 16th century as an abbreviated form of Christmas. They got the X from the Greek word for Christ, which is Xristos. . And in ancient times people spelled Christ with an "x" so that they wouldn't be persecuted for loving and following the Savior. It was kind of like a "code" system.
Cool, eh? Who knew!? Not me.
Anyway....I agree....the x-mas no longer really stands for CHRISTmas, but I love the story behind it and how it all got started. The people then truly knew what Christmas was all about. I will send the e-mail to you.
Now I am SO excited for Christmas after reading your post. I really really want to start hauling everything out to decorate already. LOL!
