Another Monday another weekend another month almost......
This week is going to be crazy my little sister is getting Married her fiance and his family who are from England {who she met when she was living over there} are flying into today and seriously its been one long distance relationship for her and him. I would give anything to go to the airport to see them see each other for the first time since they got engaged last august tell me how she did it I have no idea I know I wouldn't have been able to stand to be apart for so long! I kind of picture the reunion in slow motion running towards each other you know... get the picture! I am so excited for them and excited to met his family too.
{ I just have to ask if anybody has heard of OMD the music group before? a british pop electronic music group? 78/80's band? here is a music video and another

Anyway my point the key board player Paul Humphreys {is my sister's fiance's uncle anyway just a fun fact he is coming to the wedding so it'll be fun to meet him. }
Since D and I are big fans and all ha ha. D listened to OMD in high school we have a few tapes kicking around still. Yes I am old I know. I used to listen to OMD in college so it was kind of cool to me that my sister is marrying one of his nephews.} Fun!
---------------------------
Our weekend consisted of more and more SNOW
again no surprise but the flakes were huge
and it was cold again thankfully it all melted on Sunday but still... it was cold enough for a fire I love this picture of kolt and D by the fire talking...
And of course this cute pumpkin who decided to fix her own glasses and bent the ear pieces back so that they'd fit better shows me that she is so growing up and noticing that she can see better when they are in front of her eyes and not down her nose!....
And I finally got my canvas wrap of the temple back I love it its going downstairs so its still wrapped up but love it! I did not take this picture our friend Greg did {Thanks Greg!!}

....."So open up your curtains (or blogs) and let us see how imperfect your life is, and be proud of it. Because perfect just isn't as fun. What do you do with your time? What do you think about when there isn't anything to think about? What's your 'useless' pastime? What are you doing?!"
------------
I'm like Lindsay in that I love to see how people live, I love to see how people tick, and I like knowing that we aren't perfect. When sometimes I feel like I'm not good at anything or can't make cute scrapbook stuff or take professional pictures or look as skinny and beautiful as someone, or have my kids look perfect all the time like it "looks" like some people do.

It can get discouraging if you let it all I guess all I'm saying is that we are not perfect in anyway and we are all alike in more ways then we know.
I too like looking into people's window's when I pass by not in a creepy stalker way but just to see how people live and its kind of like blogging getting that peek into others lives learning from them, and seeing and knowing its OKAY if we aren't all perfect we are trying.....
cause that's the best chance we got -- to keep trying to do the best we can do.
----------------------
So what do I do with my time? what do I think about? and what do I think about when there is nothing to think about..well here goes!
I carpool a couple times a week
I'm trying to get the bus route to come this way emailing, calling people working on it.
I'm trying to find helpers for lice checkups at school, and fund riser helpers to get the cookie dough out this week all part of pta duties.
I'm hoping and praying everything comes together for the wedding this weekend with 2 countries involved and the bride who lives 3 hours away from home and lots of phone calls and delegation it might be a miracle if all goes exactly the way we hope it does. a little stressful.

I lose my patience a lot lately especially since we don't have the basement to run around in and send the kids to play in and there is only a mud bog outside and its so cold anyway.. no excuses its true I am not a patient person some days....I read a quote the other day that said....
"impatience is getting angry when things don't go your way or the way you want them too."
How true is that how often do you lose your patience because the kids aren't doing exactly what you told them to do or things aren't going like you pictured them too. Kids just don't listen the first, second and even sometimes a third time but its finding something that works I guess I'm working on it!
I like to read a lot
I have my kids nap or have quiet time everyday because they need it, but so do I. I go on my treadmill during that time in the winter, fold clothes, blog, take a deep breath, clean.
I put my kids to bed between 7-8 and I don't go to bed till close to 11 just so I can have 4 hours to breath once again {remember I have a very very active 2 year old} relax, regroup, spend time with D.
Usually my day consists of lately the kids getting up at like 5 am usually one comes screaming into our room saying somebody was mean to them AT 5 IN THE MORNING~!!
It makes me mad that they wake up that early because why??? I like to be run, be showered pray, scripture read and ready for the day before they get up it makes my day so much better.
SO I get frustrated when they get up so so early thanks to M!!}
I think a lot about how my kids will turn out
I think alot about having another kid I think a lot about if maybe this might be the month we could maybe might get pregnant? after 12 years all those months I still think about it....
I think alot about why kolten doesn't like his wild primary class since {that actually isn't something to think to much about since I subbed in that class and know how crazy it is}
we moved so I quit thinking about it this morning and figured it out and am much happier hopefully it will be much better for him.... see he has a December birthday 10 days from the cutoff line for the younger class the class with all his grade in it. The kids he has known forever so I called the primary president and we worked it out. SO I'm praying it is a good move.
Being a mom is hard work wondering if what you are doing makes a difference or if your doing it wrong or what they will remember most when they grow up...
hopefully lots of fun, happy family memories...lots of life learning lessons and most of all lots of LOVE.
whats my useless pastime???
I love sitting for an hour and getting skin cancer every afternoon in the summer I love the feel of it and I love a little color.... useless..... yes deadly...... possibly.... but it feels good...
I love to have a very clean house and I do get frustrated when it doesn't last more then five minutes so yeah its a pretty useless pastime eh!
What am I doing??? picking up kids.... dropping off kids....taking soccer files to those people who put them on teams and find coaches.... taking a meal to a family who is moving... playing referree...constantly cleaning up my mud covered children cannot wait to get grass and a fence
What am I doing?? What am I not doing lots of days it feels like that anyway.
Tired yet?? Me too.

How To Be A Good Wife
(From a 1952 High School Home Economics Textbook)

HAVE DINNER READY: Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal on time. This is a way of letting him know that you have been thinking about him and are concerned about his needs. Most men are hungry when they come home and the prospect of a good meal is part of the warm welcome needed.
PREPARE YOURSELF: Take 15 minutes to rest so that you'll be refreshed when he arrives. Touch up your makeup, put a ribbon in your hair, and be fresh looking. He has just been with a lot of work weary people. Be happy and cheerful and a little more interesting. His boring day may need a lift.
CLEAR AWAY THE CLUTTER: Make one last trip through the main part of your house just before your husband arrives; gathering up school books, toys, paper, etc. Then run a dust cloth over the tables. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give him a lift too.
PREPARE THE CHILDREN: Take a few minutes to wash the children's hands and faces (if they are small), comb their hair and, if necessary, change their clothes. They are little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part.
MINIMIZE THE NOISE: At the time of his arrival, eliminate all the noise of the washer, dryer, or vacuum. Try to encourage the children to be quiet. Be happy to see him. Greet him with a warm smile and be glad to see him.
SOME DONT'S: Don't grieve him with problems or complaints. Don't complain if he's late for dinner. Count this a minor compared with what he might have gone through that day. Make him comfortable. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or suggest he lie down in a bedroom. Have a cold or warm drink ready for him. Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soft, soothing, and pleasant voice. Allow him to relax and unwind.
LISTEN TO HIM: You may have a dozen things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first.
MAKE THE EVENING HIS: Never complain if he does not take you out to dinner or to other places of entertainment. Instead, try to understand his world of strain and pressure, his need to be home and relax.
THE GOAL: Try to make your home a place of peace and order, where your husband can renew himself in body and spirit. {YEAH WHAT ABOUT THE WHOLE FAMILY??}

Anyway this is way long have a great week!!!

You are so cute! I always get that boost that I need when I come to your blog! This post really did give me alot to think about. I have been struggling with the blog latley, maybe I'm just burned out and tired, who knows? Today I feel like I have bit off more than I can handle and I'm trying to figure out where I can simplify. What my needs, and my family's needs are and also what the needs of everyone around me are and how can I balance it all. My mind is doing circles, maybe I should write a blog post about it all... we'll see. ha! Good luck with the wedding! :) And your print is GORGEOUS!!
You Article on How to be a good wife....What is so funny? I do that everyday for Dean. I am such a good wife.......KIDDING!!! LOL! Every time I read that I ROLL my eyes. I would like to see a How to be a Good husband book. I think I am lucky in that Dean always SHARES all these duties equally with me and never complains about helping with the house or kids. He knows it takes two and he KNOWS it's NOT just "woman's work" although he can be a smartie pants sometimes about it. ; )
LOVE the canvas picture you have of the temple! That will look SO nice on the wall. Did you take the photo?? IT's absolutely a gorgeous color.
Those videos of OMD sure take me back!!! Amazing that you will now get to meet Peter Humphreys. Maybe you could get me an autograph?? LOL! Kidding again!
Have a GREAT weekend with the wedding. Take one day at a time and all will go well.
Love your me thinks. It's the same reason I blog. Love to see how "human" we ALL are!!!
Christal, you are so sweet and honest. I love that about you. I always enjoy reading your blog. I am like you...I like to hear about people's lives and understand what makes them tick. I don't think that's creepy or wierd! :)
That thing about welcoming your husband home just makes me laugh. It is a nice goal, but TOTALLY unrealistic!!!
LOVED this post. You and I are so alike is many ways! I too LOVE to peek in peoples windows when I drive by. LOL! Hey just wondering what happend with the Primary class. I have a similar situation with Carson..he is only 2 days from the cut off and I am holding him back another year in pre-school. Anyway let me know.
I too follow the textbook guidelines every day, I am a perfect wife. Christal, if you ever need a touch of reality, my blog is full of my ups and downs and honesty ha ha.
first of all, is all the snow gone in raymond? there is still like 4 inches here!
well, here i am making my weekly monday trip to the sweet christal's blog only to find that she quoted me?! ME!? well, i couldn't be more flattered. it's so validating to know that we aren't alone and sometimes our blah lives kinda suck, which in turn makes us realize how blessed we are. and we see the bigger picture and realize we all doing just fine...for the most part. but heaven forbid the husband's boring day, he might 'need a lift.' and minimize the noise? i would not have done well in 1952.
plus i didn't think i knew omd, but i watched the videos and i do recall those sweet new wave 80's tunes. but the video is just priceless!
the videos are awesome eh! so 80's makes me laugh!!
No wonder I'm not a good wife---my face is always messy when Kyle comes home, and I never have a ribbon in my hair! It's only a matter of time before he kicks me to the curb...
: )
I always wanted to marry a british guy. Every time I've been to England (twice, both before I was married), I was always on the lookout for a Dandy, but none of them ever fell for me. Canadian was my next choice! : ) It's still a little exotic...
After you told me about OMD I heard them on Serios radio. And I actually recognized the song. Now I want to see a pic of you are Darren as the crazed fans at the wedding!
Hey Chris, great post--amazing the differences b/w back in the day and our generation. And as for our real life day to day....we are lucky no matter what it consists of....I think of that a lot. The freedoms we have to come, go, worship, speak, do what we do and not to have to live in fear of what might happen when we step outside our front doors like some people in some areas of the world do. Anyway, enough of my rambling. I was also going to say that I think Guy's uncles name is Paul not Peter--Peter is Guys' bro's name. Unless I'm wrong and his brother and uncle have the same name. Either way it is pretty cool that Livi will be related to him. Oh and I love that song "The Climb" I had to put on my play list too....great lyrics! I hope you are having a good day. Talk to you soon.
What a great Post. I really needed it. Especially the quote on impatience. How true.
I read the "How to be a good wife" to Ross, he thought it was funny, and it was not what he had expected.
I understand your thoughts about getting pregnant. It's been 9 years and a part of me still hopes and wonders if I will ever have the opportunity.
Thanks again for this great post.
Your posts are always so wonderful. I am absolutely IN LOVE with your picture of the Temple! That is just gorgeous!!!!
What a great post! Your posts never fail to brighten my day. You are such a huge blessing. We're in Magrath for Easter weekend. Everytime I'm down there I'm always nervous that somewhere I'll bump into you (especially when we need to go into Raymond), but I definately won't be nervous anymore.
this was fun to read. Now I really want one of those pictures of the temple. It looks great. Can't wait to see it all hung up. I don't know how big I would want one, so it will be good to see yours. Love the perfect wife thing. I'm failing miserably. Oh well. He stills love me. good luck with the wedding this weekend. it will all turn out. As long as their married and happy who cares it if everything is not perfect.
have a good day! love ya
Loved that how to be a good wife thing! That cracked me up. I'll just say good thing we live in 2009 and not 1952! Wish I had 15 minutes to get refreshed before my husband came home, the dinner hour is always a little chaotic at our house and the kids are ALWAYS noisy. Loved what you said about being real and how no one is perfect. Everyone's blogs seem so perfect but real life just isn't that way! Your temple print is gorgeous. I've been to that temple a long time ago and it's always been one of my favorites. Thanks for another uplifting post. Have fun at your sister's wedding this weekend!
