Oh my heck what a night last night was seriously I am so drained! There is nothing more horrible then watching your child be in so much pain! Masen got his pinkie slammed in the bathroom door. closed completly on his tiny finger. blood everywhere. and a fast trip to the ER.
I seriously thought I was going to puke I felt so so bad for him he was screaming and thrashing and the top of his finger was hanging off.
{I would never be good in a first aid situation I couldn't even think we just ran out the door to the hospital } Straight to the emerg FOR 25 minutes I had to control masens screaming, hitting, yelling he wanted Dad, he wanted down, he wanted out of there.
The whole bed had blood on it, I was sweating so bad from fighting him to keep him somewhat under control and trying to control him and holding his hand away so it wouldn't get more damaged he had already thrown the bandage they gave us away.Finally they called in another DR and sent us for x-rays to make sure it wasn't broken he calmed down enough to do that. It wasn't broken thank goodness and it couldn't be stitched up cause it was to close to the nail bed and up and out!!
Don't worry I didn't take a picture of it it was more then disgusting my poor baby@!!
So they bandaged it and taped it and hopefully it will grow okay back together perfectly well but he will loose the nail and with the amount of kicking the nurse and pulling on the bandage and three people holding him down it will be a miracle if the underneath bandage is actually in place!! Anyway we are okay now lots of Tylenol-- didn't even slow him down.
---------------------------------AND Kolten finally lost his first tooth he was so excited ! I gave it one tug and it came out he says
"did it come out? Yeah it didn't even hurt!!"
Then it started bleeding but he was so happy he wrote his note to the tooth fairy and everything!! He was so cute about it!!

Anyway that was the excitement in our home last night after a little FHE and dessert and ER and teeth its been a long day!!

oh,my. what a night. poor masen. that looks like it hurts so bad!!! i also would never do well in first aid situations, especially with my own child. i would just want to cry too because i couldn't help them. hopefully todays goes better. Congrats to kolt on the loss of his first tooth. love the picture he drew i think we got like 25cents too!! now with the economy it's probably up to 5 bucks =). have a better day okay!!!

something was so bound to happen some time---I'm surprised it took this long! still the poor boy! I feel for him and I feel for you. I would be a basket case seeing someone so cute and little in so much pain! That'd be so hard. You guys made it and hopefully it'll eventually make him reconsider some of his crazy stunts. I bet Kolt was SO excited about that tooth. Can't believe he's getting to be such a grown up little boy! Well, I guess we'll see you later hope the rest of your week is a little less eventful!
Awww... Poor Masen! At least you could think enough to run to the hospital. When Brighton spilt his head open I just ran across the street to Navratil's house so I could clean him up... then I yelled at Todd to go get the van so we could take him to the ER! So how long does he have to have the bandage on? It would be a bit of a chore for me to keep it on my kids... and clean! I bet Kolten is so excited... I got 25 cents too. I have no idea what to do though. I still have another year or so before the teeth start coming.
Oh man!!! My heart just did a huge flip flop when I saw your post title. How scary. It brings back ALL the memories of me being in the ER with my kids. Unfortunately the feelings are the same EVERY time. A mom never gets use to it. However....it gets better in time with the "thinking of what to do in a moment". But I truly think you did an awesome job in getting to the ER quick. I hope Masen feels MUCH better soon and that his finger heals well. I will pray.
YAY for a lost tooth for Kolten! We got 25 cents and so do our kids. It got pretty expensive there for awhile with 3 kids losing teeth non stop all together.
We've told our kids.....Santa and the tooth fairy could easily pay more, but then they would run out of money and that's why there are so many kids that don't even get something from the tooth fairy and Santa." LOL! It actually works. So whatever you decide to give, try using that one incase the kids at school get even more. I've actually heard my kids say to their friends. "I don't want to be greedy. I am not going to ask for more.". YAY!
Hey you the two of us together have had two many trips to the ER this past week. Geesh. Poor little guy, I hope his little pinky heals okay. I feel for the little guy. Know we are thinking about you and your family. I love the tooth fairy picture. Sorry to tell you but I think the going rate of tooth fairies has gone up a bit....lol. There is nothing worse than watching your child suffer. I'm glad Masen is going to be okay. I hope you are feeling okay, too. Moms remember things like this a lot longer than kids do.
Congratulations to Kolten for losing a tooth! I have no idea what the Tooth Fairy is paying these days, so I'm not much help to you there. I love the picture!
That was traumatic!! Bless Masen's heart! And your heart, too!! The same thing happened to Mark when he was about a year old. Only his finger didn't get severed, it just got completely flattened. And I mean completely...like a pancake! It scared me half to death. I know you were just a basket case.
Anyway...the good news is Kolten lost his tooth! Yay! I used to get 25 cents too. But most of my kindergarteners get about $1 nowdays. I even have a few who get $5, but to me, that's just crazy!! :)

OUCH!!!!!!!! That is horrible but it sounds like in the end it went as good as could be expected! Congrats to Kolten for his tooth - we also got 25 cents; nothing wrong in keeping with tradition!
Oh that is so sad! It's so scary when things like that happen and you feel soooo bad for them. We had our own scare around here this past week and it ended with a trip to the er too. So glad Masen is okay. And so exciting for Kolten!! I love his little picture for the tooth fairy.

Oh! How terrible! Poor little Masen (I love how you spell his name by the way). I hope he's feeling better, or at least as good as he can all things considering! That is a darling picture of you and he together. And aren't kids' drawings the best? Love them!
We had a similar experience with Sadie she cut her finger with an exacto knife. She snuck it when I was scrapbooking with my sister at the table. It was a really traumatizing experience for all of us, but her finger did heal good. But I had to threaten her to keep the bandage on. It was hard. I hope it heals up good. We haven't lost any teeth yet.....I'm thinkin 25 cents is plenty for losing a tooth, because it would get to be lots when the others start losing them too. I've learned that when you start with something you have to continue.
