{Mothers Day Story and Idea's}

I've had a lot of people ask me if I had any idea's for mothers day I don't really but I have a few fun ideas and I've seen a few on the Internet that look fun but thought I'd share with you in time for mothers day and share my all time favorite mothers day present. But check out here how to make these yummy cupcakes its looks hard but if you got more skill and motivation then me here you go they look amazing though don't you think? Love this site.

For 5 years in the beginning I cried every Mothers day when the only thing you ever wanted was to have a baby and when things don't work out that way I pretty much dreaded the day coming up for myself, for D and me, for my loss in never getting pregnant, for my empty arms, for my dreams. But in Dec 2001 a beautiful, young, selfless birthmother gave birth to my first son Kolten was born and placed into our home I became a mother { his birthmother mourned the loss of her son, the son she carried, loved and watched grow inside of her for nine months} Her mothers day like all birthmothers I'm sure comes every year with thoughts of this little baby she placed and probably a few tears.} Mine is filled with gratitude for our three birthmothers who I love so much for giving me my family for giving us a chance to be and become a family. For giving these three beautiful, children an eternal family, a Mother and a Father, and so many chances to have a life they probably never could have given them, but wanted more then anything to give them. On May 14th of 2006 Mothers Day that year I got my greatest Mothers Day gift ever this: Masen. {I'll share more of his story on his bday next week}

What a beautiful, exciting, wonderful Mother's Day 2006 was. Kolten Lauren and Masen are each the greatest Mothers Day gifts, each Mothers Day I think of those three young, beautiful, strong girls who chose our family to place these babies with that we call our own. I love them. I can't imagine all they go through. But for my mothers day now each year my thoughts, tears, and feelings of being a mother center on these three birthmothers for giving me this chance in life to BE A MOTHER. To have these three, beautiful blessings in my life and to have the chance to be their mother and to be called a MOTHER. What a blessing these girls, these children and adoption is in my life.

That was my favorite Mothers Day gift I {we} got but some ideas to give for you::

I did this last year for our Mothers and my cute sisters

~ sugar cookies on a stick, some skittles and craft sticks, some ribbon or raffia a plastic container you could use anything.

We have also for my mother in law given a gift of service with nine kids in D's fam and a busy farmer for a husband sometimes things get put off for a long time. So we all gave a Saturday and our time to whatever project she needed and wanted done for a long time. We painted fences, mowed, weed whacked, moved beds, cleaned and moved things in the house. We've done in for D's dad for fathers day too. Then we end the day with a big meal and those are some of my favorite gifts to do of service it feels good to get that much done, to work together, learn from each other and feel like we did some good for everybody but most of all Mom and Dad.

I thought these looked cute and fun to order or make.

Or these cute mothers day coupon books to make.

Or check out this website for some fun ideas.

A tile project with mother sayings on it is nice. Like here {thanks Mindy}
This site has a lot of ideas and quotes if you could do it quick. I'm a big vinyl fan and these all look like so much fun. I thought this site was really cute.
{BTW I love this front door my dream door and wreath and vinyl someday just thought I'd tell you that ha ha}
So those are all my finds ideas anyway right not sure what I'm doing yet but....
Now I need your ideas?? What has been your favorite gift to give or get?? It gets hard sometimes trying to figure out what to do so share some of your favorite gifts, ideas, acts of service. Whatever.
Happy Mothers Day to all of you on Sunday too. Have a great day.

Thanks for all the great ideas Christal! I really needed them. A few years ago, I made my mom a homemade/family calendar- and she expects that every year.(There's an idea, but it takes a while-I haven't even started yet.yikes!) Another idea I get my mother-in-law sometimes, are pedicures or manicures. Something for herself.
Anyways, thanks for sharing your heart warming stories, and your cute ideas!!

I saw those cupcakes on Bakerella and thought about making them but it doesn't look like it's going to happen this year. I too used to dread Mother's Day...every year sitting in sacrament meeting and knowing at the end they were going to hand out flowers to all the mothers. I wanted to be a mother more than anything and would have done anything to be one. Now that I am a mother I look forward to Mother's Day, but at the same time my heart aches for Carter's birthmother because I know it is a very hard and emotional day for her. I am so grateful that I have been given the chance to be a mother!

Wow! SO many emotions you evoke in me. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and feelings on Mother's Day. I think many people do forget about what women, who don't have the blessing of children... yet..... may feel on Mother's Day. And there are many who do not have a mom to celebrate with on that day. It can be a sad day for many. My DH has been sweet enough to think of those things always as a Bishop and when we hand out gifts on Mother's Day in our ward, he has always said that it was a gift to celebrate and honor "Womanhood". So every SINGLE sister in our ward 18 and over, whether married, single, divorced, widowed, orphaned, childless, or with children....they ALL receive gift.
I remember the look on an elderly couples' face the first year. They could not have children and were not afraid to let others know this, but that they also CHOSE NOT to adopt or have any children come to their home in other ways either. It was their choice and people respected them for their decision, however to see the look on her face when she received a gift honoring her on Mother's Day, spoke volumes! It was the neatest thing.
Anyway......loved your story. I can't wait to hear more of Kolten's story on his birthday.
Thanks for all the mother's day ideas too! I especially love the service project one. I think I am going to work on that idea with the help of the whole family.

Thanks for sharing the great mother's day gift ideas. I just love your story of becoming a mother and the appreciation you have for each of your childrens birthmothers. If they haven't already they will thank you one day for being so caring and thoughtful towards them. You are such inspiration. Have a great day!
