{This should be the Me thinks for this week ...}

flickr img.
Because I can't stop thinking about it and I can't wait until Monday to write about it. { And its pouring rain outside anyway. }So in reading the ensign (from this month) the other day I found something that brought tears to my eyes because after struggling to put my kids to bed this paragraph from Elder M. Russell Ballard's talk jumped out at me and stayed with me so I want to share it- it says :
"{Author Anna Quindlen} reminds us not to rush past the fleeting moments. She said: "The biggest mistake I made {as a parent} is the one that most of us make.... I did not live in the moment enough. This is particularly clear now that the moment is gone, captured only in photographs. There is one picture of {my three children} sitting in the grass on a quilt in the shadow of the swing set on a summer day, ages six, four, and one. And I wish I could remember what we ate, and what we talked about, and how they sounded, and how they looked when they slept that night. I wish I had not been in such a hurry to get on to the next thing: dinner, bath, book, bed. I wish I had treasured the doing a little more and the getting it done a little less."

We only have so much time with them sometimes I know I get caught up with the dinner, book, prayer, and scrip, bed routine. Instead of taking moments that will really matter so I don't have to look back someday when they are grown and say I wish I had.... But its hard to do sometimes in the now. When its been a long, tiring day!

SO
put perfectly by someone out there, another so true writing:

Why I love being a mother?

It makes me do things I would otherwise never have courage to do.
It makes me see things from a smaller, more innocent perspective.
It makes me more confident in my decision making skills.
It makes me rely on faith and promptings in a way I have never known.
It makes me stick to my guns, and stick up for my kids.
It makes me see how lucky I am to have healthy, happy kids.
It makes me appreciate my own mother more than ever.

Why do you love being a mother?

Being a mother is wonderful because it is the one job that pays you back for what you've invested many times over. It is the most difficult, yet the most rewarding job I've ever done. It's the job I wanted more than anything else ever since I was a little girl and I am so thankful and blessed that God allowed me to do it!

I have tried to be better about living in the moment. I don't want to look back and wish that I had. I agree that sometimes it is hard to do, especially at night time. I love being a mother because I learn so much seeing things through the eyes of a child.

I love all those tender moments...like when your child says " I love you " , " great job mom", come play with me, and seeing all the "firsts". I try to be ever greatful for all the little things that do MATTER the most. Definitly the hardest, most rewarding thing I have ever done.

I love being a Mother because I am in AWE of the massive responsibility that my Father in Heaven has placed upon me....ME! Little old me. He had the confidence in me to take care of his little ones. To nourish their little souls. To help guide them back to HIM. To take care of their well being. To help them achieve their dreams and goals. WOW! He thought I could do that, and allowed me the chance to prove that I would and at least do my very best. He is there to help me do that. Guide me. Pick me back up and see where I went wrong, when I do.
My biggest reward, is watching my kids go off on their own. I work hard towards that goal with them for 18 years and then when they do, I am so proud of them, when they "Go and DO" just like Nephi said he would. I feel utter joy when they achieve and are successful at the small things that matter. I feel their pains and their heartaches too, but I get just a "teeny tiny" glimpse into what our Father must feel, when I see my kids "get it" after picking themselves back up when they fall, and they do all they can to get back on track. Just like when they were little and learning to walk. It such pure joy!

Motherhood is by far the most rewarding, and most challenging thing I've ever done, or thought of doing! Nothing beats the sound of being called 'mommy', I love it! I agree with Lynn(in part, obviously my kids are younger than hers)but if Heavanly Father has enough faith in me to send 3 of his perfect children into my heart & home, then I guess I can do it! I'm excited for my kids to be grown up too, not just to have them out of the house, but just to see the amazing people they will be. Yeah, its scary sometimes, this world is getting so sad & just hardened. I'm so grateful to have the gospel to give us guidelines in raising these sweet little ones.
Thanks for the reminder to live in the moment, to just take them as they come, its so important but so hard at times too. nights are rough for me too, hurry and get on to the next thing, I always have too many things to 'check off' before I can relax, (my house has to be clean too,) so its easy for me to go through the motions, just like the quote, dinner bath book prayers & bed, at least they get done right? But I feel bad later, for not spending the extra 4 minutes to hear Drakes story, or ...you know what I mean? So yeah, thanks for the reminder!
(man that was a long comment for me, sheesh!!

Hello!
I am perusing through your blog...I love that quote too. My blog title is supposed to say "live in the moment" but my friend goofed and put "enjoy every moment!" Same thing tho...
Isn't it so much sweeter too, enjoying every moment, after waiting so long for something (our kiddos')! It means that much more.
I cherish every second and don't take it for granted.
Anyways...thanks for saying hi. I love your blog. You are too cute, and your kids are adorable. Isn't adoption amazing.
We have so much in common...driving too fast, worked at DQ, lived in Logan, husband's in bishopric, adoptive LDS mom's...so fun!
We've even had some bad adoption drama too. It sucks.
Well, I'm glad you said hello. Another awesome friend to add to my life!
Take care.
