{ This and That Tuesday }

The skies around here lately and some nice thunder and lightening and lots of rain!
So Just a few things I wanted to share today that are awesome!
{Thanks Tina for writing this I've wanted to share this for awhile but she did it first and did a great job of writing it out} I belong to a group called the Babysitting Co Op we've done it for about three years now. It is designed to help moms get things done without having their kids running around under foot. So it works like this: 9 to 10 moms to fill 1 3 hour time slots from Monday to Friday, AM (9 to 12) or PM (12-3). It might look something like this:

{*Names have been changed as if you didn't know ha ha}

Mon AM - Cindy Crawford * Mon PM - Jennifer Garner
Tues AM - Kelly Rippa * Tues PM - Jennifer Lopez
Wed AM - Angelina Jolie * Wed PM - Katie Holmes
Thurs AM - Liv Tyler * Thurs PM - Halle Berry
Fri AM - Reese Witherspoon * Fri PM - Brooke Shields

Every mom starts out with 30 coupons each are worth 1 hour/child. You use these as "payment" anytime you need/want to use the Co Op. We are encouraged to use this for anything we desire, a nap, visiting teaching, an appointment, errands, quiet time and so on and so forth. It is very convenient and sometimes a life saver. It only runs during the school months, from September to the end of June, and is usually put on hold during Stat or school holidays. I used it last year alot more then this year but I love it it comes in handy so much! Sorry about the bad scan job the coupons are just these little cards that are good for one kid for one hour. To answer some questions you can set your own limit if you only want 2 kids that day thats all you have to say yes to, if you can handle five more then its up to you. Doesn't matter if you have one kid or three kids its durning school anyway so usually its just the little 5 and under kids. Some people just want to drop one off or sometimes they drop of three. Any more questions??

NEXT is a recipe I found on Jackies blog {Thanks Jackie} that we had last night it is awesome and my kids all drank it it looks beautifully green and tastes so good for you it really is so yummy!

Green Smoothie
about three handfuls of fresh Spinach
put in blender with 1/4 cup of water
throw in about 1.5 cups of pineapple fresh is best {I used canned cause thats what I had last night but it tasted great}
2 ripe bananas {I used one unfrozen and one frozen to make it cold}
Blend all together in blender until smooth and ENJOY!!
{You could make ahead and put in fridge to have it colder if you don't have frozen banana on hand}
{You could probably use any fruit in place of the pineapple but pineapple is so good!!
It is so good try it {I know it has spinach in it how good can it be thats what I thought but if my picky picky children drank it has to be good give it a try for real :) !
-------------------------------
Our weather is so crazy lately soccer was cancelled again. But Kolten had a great end of kindergarten swim party yesterday and had so much fun love this picture of the boys after he came home -- eyes closed, head back, now thats freezie enjoyment eh!!!
Have a great day! Make it a great one!

Should I throw it or not hum?

I think that babysitting co op is awesome! I wonder if I could get one started here!? I'll have to try that drink too! It really tastes good huh??

The babysitting co op is a good idea. Does one person end up babysitting more than others? I'll have to try that drink sometime because it doesn't really sound all that tasty to me with the spinach in it. I do like spinach but it doesn't seem like something to put in a drink. I guess I'll give it a try :)

Seriously guys you can't taste the spinach with all the other good stuff in it!! I promise I was the same as you -- yuck but thought what the heck give it a try it really is so good!!

Janeal: With the babysitting coop for it to work you have to use it as much as you get used to get more coupons its a give and take thats why it works so good! Does that make sense?? Its a lifesaver!

Oh I wish I had known about a babysitters club WITH coupons. I had given one a try once, but I ended up doing all the babysitting. So I quit. Coupons are a great idea.
I can't wait to try the spinach drink. I think the green scared me away until your testimonial here. Sounds good now.
Love the pics of your kids. Summer = kids and fun.

I'm definitely trying this Chris. Thanks for posting it. Believe it or not Mont and I love spinach--it's generally the only "lettuce leave" we'll use for salad. And we both LOVE smoothies too. Can't wait to try this...thanks again. Hope your day in town went well. Talk atcha later..DJ

The drink sounds good! And the coop is such a good idea. Do you have to have lots of people?

Christal said...

Kim you set your own limit if you feel like you can only do 1 kid that day say yes or no its up to you if you feel like you can do 5 for the hours then its totally up to you if you only need one for a half an hour its fine. You just know you have that block of three hours durning the week and people in the co-op have to call before they drop off and if your going to be away then you just switch with somebody!! It works great. Rebecca {cooper started it and she made the cutest coupons I'll scan on in when I get a minute that way people could start there own if they want. It really works great.

Thanks for sharing that awesome idea about the Co-op, question for each kid does it cost you one coupon per hour? So if I have two kiddos it would cost me two coupon a hour ? Is that right? I wonder if this would work for a R.S enrichment group? I don't see why not. But it is kinda nice having who you want in your group. I am happy to see you eyes are getting better...pink eye is no fun. Oh by the way that green shake looks just nasty but I am sure it tastes great, then again you like those really healthy things...LOL. Where's the chocolate ??? ( haha) have a great day !

I love the babysitting co-op too! Sounds like everyone else does as well. I'm only used to having one child, obviously, and a quiet house! The other day I babysat my friends 3 kids and I about died. I was running the whole night and a little overwhelmed with 4 little kids. (I know, I'm wimpy). So if it was my night could I say, the first 3 people that contact me will work, anything after that I would have to say no. Would that work? Is that fair? Just trying to figure all this out.
It kind of sucks because I'm pretty much the only one with one child and everyone else has 3-6 kids and they don't have as much time to do babysitting swaps and stuff, so I get the raw end of the deal...or like I said I have to watch 3 or more kids when I do swap with someone, and they just have my one which is totally easy. But I'm totally not whining about that, I should stop rambling. I like swapping because Tanner LOVES having friends over.

Believe it or not, I was gonna ask you about the co op, you had mentioned it a while back on the phone, and I've been thinking of how to get one going... thanks for the pointers!!!

I'm with Jill--ya it may be nice to get away without the kids once in awhile but a ratio of my one kid to others 3 or more kids is a little exhausting and not the easiest trade in the world. I'll take my little girl with--she's more of a friend for company than work when we go out anyway...she's too easy to take care of (for me) to join a babysitting coop...maybe someday when I have more little rugrats to worry about I'll definitely benefit from a babysitting coop for now I'm glad you are in one and those that really need it....it's a great idea anyway....I'll enjoy the ease of one child as long as I can or have to and I definitely am--it's fun and easy for now. Good luck to those who are trying to set one up in their area. If you have lots of kids you'll be SO happy for the break it gives.....

YAY!!! I'm glad you tried the smoothie and enjoyed it, plus how great is it when the kids like it too!!! That babysitting co-op sounds AWESOME, unfortunately noone else with young kids lives out here in Martensville, so probably a no go!!! :)
