{ I have a first grader... }

Me?!!! I have a kid in grade one wow time goes by so fast he said he was scared when he got up this morning but that quickly left and he was excited! But he did great and was really excited to go and did great. He did get embarrassed that I took so many pics but oh well! He has a great class a good bunch of kids it will be just fine.
Taking him today was 100 percent better then taking him to kindergarten last year where I hung around finally left and cried that my little baby was going into kindergarten and was going to be gone everyday! Grade one totally different maybe cause I was looking forward to school starting and getting the wiggles out of him and getting some sort of routine going for us. Not sure but I know he will do just fine he's a great kid.
He had the heaviest backpack and kept telling me to hurry take the picture cause it was so heavy!

His hurry up {once again} take the picture face! This life is yours. Take the power to choose what you want to do and do it well. Take the power to love what you want in life and love it honestly. Take the power to walk in the forest and be a part of nature. Take the power to control your own life. No one else can do it for you. Take the power to make your life happy.

Love this quote

We all want what is best for our kids and we teach them best we know how to. I know the first five years are the very most important and I've tried hard to teach him all that is important and to have respect and to show him how much we love, appreciate and support and value him and want him to be happy. Before we sent him out into the world now I guess its his turn to learn. Hopefully we've taught him well to make wise choices and to be an example.

And today the moment I watched him walk ahead of me to school where he will spend the next twelve years of his life, I was overcome with the love I have for this boy that I hope and pray he makes wise choices, is happy and healthy and loves life and lives it to the fullest. That he won't get hurt to often and that he won't have to many hardships in life. That he will have success and love and live the gospel. I love my kids so so much! What a job we have to raise the next generation are we doing the best we can? We have been given some of the greatest gifts on this earth what are we doing with them?
That's the question - I think about that a lot.

Anyway he had a great day! and that's what counts.
HAve a great day. Make it a memorable one.

(wow am I really the first to leave a comment?! LOL!!)
What a big boy, aren't you just SO proud? You're an excellent mother Christal, he'll do amazing! And you've summed up all my toughts and feelings exactly!! You're just better at putting them in words, and then sharing too. =) Its overwhelming at times, this whole parenthood thing... Good question to keep asking--for me anyways--am I doing the BEST I can? Can I try a little harder to be a little better? Heavenly Father has placed so much trust in us to care for His children...

Kolten looks so excited. Love that he wanted you to stop taking pictures. it does seem crazy that all these kids are growing up so fast. it is so overwhelming thinking about the responsibility we have as parents. i just want my kids to be respectful and kind. you always wonder if you are doing the best, at any age I think. have a good day!!!

Kolten IS a respectful sweet loving boy--he's kind to everyone! we love that boy and can't believe he's already old enough to be in grade one. seems like yesterday i was rocking him and looking into his two week angel face and eyes loving him then like i do now! love that kid!! He's a joy!

Okay, Christal -- you made me cry... I am missing Makenna even more on day #2! It's nice though to know that I'm not the only mom out there who is wondering if I have done enough to teach everything they need to know.

Your kids are adorable, by the way!

You should be a writer! Love how you write your thoughts down on paper. You say it So well!

That is SO cute the look on Kolten's face. My kids do the same thing. I can tell when it's a "week smile" due to "had enough". LOL! sO cute.

Happy birthday to your sister and dad!!

Christal - Kolten is going to love it! I remember crying when Trav went to Kindergarten. With 1st grade, it was just so exciting! (and exciting to get a schedule). I think it helps that our kids are some of the older ones and are soooo ready to just be at school. I love your blog by the way. The quotes are always inspiring and it's nice to know what's going on up there! Love ya. Janalee

Your kid is the cutest ever. I think I will sit and bawl the entire day my J goes to first grade for the first time. I will lose it.
