Me thinks this is the saddest, sickest sweetest face poor baby my boys both got sick so there was no church for us yesterday but both seem to be feeling better today, and Lauren hasn't gotten it yet hopefully she won't.

Me thinks he loves his new bed YEAH!! It's now been christened "MY bed"!So that tells me he's liking it!
Me thinks this is the funniest thing that doesn't make sense overheard by mom and dad yesterday:
KOLTEN TO LAUREN:: Sister's are always 1/2 off, that's why everybodies buying them.
So after laughing really hard at the randomness of it we had to tell Lauren it just isn't true.
For the real ME THINKS thought of the day:
{The reason I started thinking about this was because I got a few calls after church from some really thoughtful, nice people who noticed I wasn't in MY bench and wondered how we were doing and what they could do for us and that they missed us yestereday anyway this is what ......}
I've been thinking a lot about where we sit in church we always sit on the fourth row back, on the right hand side of the chapel. Its like our bench. Although I don't recall having my name engraved on this particular bench and I don't recall having announced that this is the single church mother with her three loud children bench { I need to see my husband on the stand so he can give the "eye" to the children if they need a little reminder the most parenting help I will get on Sundays during that hour} It just is. I have to be close enough so that my children can at least see daddy on Sunday too. I know I feel all off if it so happens I'm a couple minutes late like five to the hour or something and somebody accidentally stole my bench {cause they wouldn't have done it on purpose right.} But when somebody steals my bench my whole sacrament is thrown off the kids are worse, I'm instantly disoriented and I stand there looking like a lost child longing for my old bench wanted to haul those people from MY bench. But I look for another bench not knowing where I might even start to find a new bench for the day and I secretly vow to get to church 10 minutes earlier to make sure this doesn't happen again. It really throws me for a loop. So that's what ME THINKS and is asking Am I the only one who has a ME family bench -please don't sit here?? That's my random thought for today!! Let me know do you have your bench or spot where you sit every week??
Have a great week Make it a fabulous one ! I'm starting to feel normal again that is reason enough to have a great week for me!

Hey sorry your week was so rotten. I would love to bring some soup or something. Are you up for some??
My bench (sad to say) seems to be the couch in the hall.
Growing up my parents always had a specific spot they sat in. ALWAYS!! People knew it was the Jacksons spot. Don't know how they knew, they just knew.

Glad you are feeling better! What a great post idea. Love your "me thinks" look on your face. SO cute. That truly was a random thought from Kolten. I had to laugh. Masen looks So grown up in his little grown up bed. So cute.
When our kids were little we use to sit in the VERY back row in the middle of the chapel. Then when we had our third baby....I said that that was enough. SO many distractions back there. How could I teach my kids to be reverent...so......we went to the VERY front row and have been then ever since. Colby is now 17 and so it's been almost 17 years. LOL! It worked! No distractions. Nothing to look at but the speaker. Oh, we've had our moments for sure. It's embarrassing dealing with your kids when EVERYBODY in the chapel behind me can see me dealing with my kids, but I persevered. They are now teenagers and they listen to the talks and of course, it helps when they are THAT close to the Bishop(their dad) who sits on the stand too. LOL!
It's not been too bad either worrying about someone else taking the very front row on us. Seems that no one is interested in the front row. Every ward we visit, the kids automatically go to the front row. It's so funny how we are creatures of habit, eh? One Sunday however, there was a baby blessing in our ward and so the chapel was full. We got there too late to get our front row. It was hilarious to see my little ones go marching up to the front row, just to see "someone is sitting on my bench" look on their faces. They really didn't know what to do! OR to think! They just stood there staring at these people. I came in and directed them to another bench. They were besides themselves. Everyone in the ward had a good laugh over that. Thanks for the post. So fun. Random thoughts.
We always sat in the second from the front when we were younger mostly for the same reasons as Lynn...my Dad was the Bishop. But then someone took our bench when the wards got reorganized when we were teenagers...GASP!!!! Then we sat in the 3rd row because the bench stealers would have their Dad save the bench early so we couldn't sit there. Rude...I know. Then when we got the new stake center, my family decided that they were going to be sitting in different rows every time. It really threw people for a loop but we didn't care. We didn't take up a whole bench and we thought it would be nice to start something new.
When we had Tanner, we sat behind Lynn and her family in Church but then someone made a rule that that families with young children would have a reserved bench and row of chairs at the back of the church so we had to move. Anyways, now we usually sit on the left hand side of the chapel, 2 or 3rd row from the back. We usually sit in front or behind Sharon and Suzanne. If someone takes where we normally sit, it doesn't really bother us. We just move over to the center benches and just sit there.
I think like it was mentioned in Church yesterday, we need to have a better spirit of forgiveness and I think sometimes people can be very unforgiving of people taking "their spots". But I think if you know that someone has a particular spot in chuch for a reason (like you), then people shouldn't sit there and if a guest sits there, then someone could just politely say that a family has that bench for a specific reason.
I don't know, maybe that's rude, but if it were me sitting in front of your bench and someone sat there, I would say "Oh, someone is sitting there already" even if you weren't there because I would know that you need that spot. It's not even a matter of wanting it.
So that's my rant about your situation. I think some people have good reasons for where they sit, but some people just are up tight and have a spot for no particular reason. They just like sitting in a spot. Sometimes, we just need to let it go...lol
Mary Ellen Edmunds is Charles's second cousin! They all call her "Melon." I've never actually met her, though, in the eleven years we've been married. Weird.
We are never at church early enough to have a Middleton bench. We pretty much sit anywhere there's room. My favorite place to sit is on the stand. I usually sit there when I play the organ or lead the music, and I love being able to see everyone.
So glad you're feeling better. And, yes, I can pretty much scan our church and see who is there & who isn't because everybody has their own seats and they always sit in those places! That must just be human nature!
Hope your week is much better and SNOW, SNOW, GO AWAY!!!
We try to sit in the same bench each week too. (when we were kids we ALWAYS sat in the same one!) Kudos to you sitting there every week with your hubby up on the stand!!
LOL, can't say we have a "BENCH OF OUR OWN ", I wish !!! We are lucky to get to church in time to get in chapel. I just hate sitting in the overflow in the gym. The kids are always worse when we are not in a bench. You would think that by now the church would come up with some sort of assigned seating ...NO? LOL. It would be so nice if they did though. Have a awesome day.
Sadly, I think for the most part we have ALWAYS sat in the back of the chapel. It had just become a habit since we had kids. I think we end up late half the time anyways, (I know, just like when I was a kid). Lately, Mimi spends almost every Sunday at another ward for his stake calling, so I am left with all 5 kids like a single mom. Yesterday, the twins were making such a rucus, I took them into a classroom during sacrament meeting. It is hilarious though, when we get there, they have to name everyone they know REALLY LOUDLY! "There's Holly, there's Riggs, there's Brock." When the sacrament is being passed they argue "here come the water,no, it's the bread,no it's the water". And they make a scene if Aaron passes to us, "Yeah, it's Aaron", and then they have to name all his friends that are also passing the sacrament, "there's Cameron, etc". They are such a disruption, but so cute and soon everyone around us is giggling because of all the loud dialogue. Families in our ward are very protective of their bench, too. There are only a few large families that have the exact same bench every Sunday. Mostly, I think people sit in the same general area. Hey, anyone have any tips to keep 2 two-year-olds busy and quiet during sacrament meeting? Or is it futile to even think there is hope for change for at least a year.
I bet you are HATING the snow!! I think we had our last snowfall of the year. It was on April 11th. My kids were all home from school for a snow day. Yeah!! LOVED IT! We baked bread, cinnamon rolls, cookies, and cinnamon roasted almonds. I can't wait for summer break!!!
Hope everyone there is feeling better today and just improves from here on out. Sounds like it was one of those weekends where you needed to count your blessings! Hang in there! Love ya, Rose
Hey sorry forgot to ask...how did you get those cute polka dots on your blog background ? Can you tell me how ? Also what blogger template do you use ? I used to know how but can't remember it's been to long.
AHHH Christal, sorry to hear you little guys are sick. We have been going through a bit of that too at our house. Isn't it nice that there are still good caring people out there who notice when you aren't around? I wish there were MORE people like that. I wish I was MORE like that.
I found your comments about "your" bench funny cause we used to have "our" bench too, until out wards changed. Now we just sit where ever we can get a spot. Now I feel out of place and the kids are definatly more rambuncious. Oh how it would be nice to get "our" spot back. LOL! But in order for that to happen we would need to be there at least 1/2 an hour early...and I just can't see that happening. Anyway take care and I hope you little boys start to feeling better soon. :)
P.S. I remember when you sat behind us in church Mandy. My kids loved seeing Tanner come each week. He was such a cute baby. I also remember when the teenagers and talk-a-tive adults use to sit at the back of the chapel and never made room for young parents who needed the convenience to rock their babies at the back of the chapel if they needed to. I don't think it was a rule that was made for young parents to be MADE to sit back there.....it was more of a rule for the teenagers and irreverent adults to more considerate and make it more convenient for parents with fussing children to have the option to sit back there if they needed to, so that they wouldn't always have to leave the chapel and miss the speakers. Just wanted to clarify that. Thanks Christal! LOL!
Me thinks... (and Jon thinks) that it doesn't really matter if you or your family has a specific "spot" or certain "bench" that you sit in at Church, because quite frankly it's Heavenly Father's house to begin with :) It shouldn't matter what 'Sunday' or which event is taking place inside the Chapel to create an attitude of reserving spaces. We're all INVITED to be there and to be apart of the spirit! (If it means that by sitting in designated area helps you to "foucs" more or to help your children and family to be more attentive-so be it.) But really, I don't think the Lord minds how many rows back you sit, or take up as long as the EFFORT to attend church was there in the first place. Think of all those members of the Church, in other parts of the world who willingly make the TREK to be there, just for a smaller period of time, than we do. I think we all take for granted on occasion, how blessed we are to even have comfortable, and roomy benches to share in the first place. "It's the gospel that makes the Church true! Not the numbers in the pew!" :D LOL
Loving all the Me thinks. So sad that your boys were sick. Hate whatever is going around. Get feeling better! Oh and we sit in the same bench every Sunday too. Usually with another family. Poor other family.
My husband and I always sit on the right side 5 rows back. It throws me off when someone sits there too.....It's MY bench. :)
By the way, I found your blog through Heather White's blog.
Love the "me thinks."
These are all awesome! Glad I'm not the only one who has a bench I guess I'm a creature of habit too. But having the same bench near dad and the front helps us all but its that we are there that counts right! ttyl
